Question about Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop

I just finished talking to Dell Customer 'service' I put that in quotation marks, since I use that term tongue in cheek. I have a Dell Dimension 3000, I bought it in '07. Shortly after I got it, I had to do a system restore, + F11. This brought the computer back to factory delivered condition. It also took this option of the hard drive, which worried me, and I was affraid that if I ever had to do the restore again, I would not have the CD/DVD to do such, so I requested it. The set was delivered relatively quick, however, on of the disk, the one with Windows XP on it, was not included in the set. I called back and asked for them to send the missing disk. The result was that another set arrived at my house, this time with a different coloured CD, and it had not XP, but Vista on it. Of course, it would not install on my unit. Another call to Dell-Customer-tick-off, and a request to replace to Vista disk with a disk that I had been asking for since the first time I talked to them. By now, my Dimension 3000 was out of the warranty period. "Sir, we have send you two complete sets, and now, if you want another set, you have to buy it, so contact our sales department. No sir, I countered, I have not ever received a complete set of restore disks, I received two incomplete sets. All I am asking for now, is disk one, so I can use one set. Their response? No sir we have send you two sets of disks, I can see that from the notes left by the shipping department. Me: Would you think that the shipping department would write on their notes that they made a mistake and send two incomplete sets? their response: Sir, I can only react on what is written here. Sir, do you call me a liar? Are you saying that what I am telling you is not true? Sir you will have to buy a set now, because your computer is out of warranty. This is what happened to me. I am furious. The chances of me buying ANYTHING from Dell Computers ever again? lol, don't hold your breath. Now, would it be possible for me to get a install disk with xp on it, to compliment the set that I have here?

Sounds like what you need to do is contact the UNRESOLVED ISSUES Section at Dell. They specialize in issues like you describe.

One thing you can ask for (It may be available, I don't know) is a SYSTEM RESTORE DVD It is a bootable DVD that like PC-Restore re-images your system. Can't hurt to ask.
Last but not least, as a last resort, you can search EBay for Dell XP CD, I've seen them there for about $10

If you're in the US, contact your State Attorney Generals Office of your state. Consumer Division. (Phone book- Blue pages- Government) Tell them your problem. You'll need to fill out a complaint form.

You may have to send the incorrect sets back, but I doubt it.

go to this link ,put in your info or auto detct it look for the sound driver for your model and download it. i would first check in DEVICE MANAGER and look under sound and see if their is any yellow marks next to it ,if so driver is bad corrupt or missing it will show a yellow quotation mark.

My dell MTC2 does not have sound at all. Are the audio drivers available online at no charge? Also, it does not recognize dvd's when I put them in. It just says to insert dvd.

Yes the drivers are available for dell pcs online. You don't have to pay to download drivers. I can give you the download link provided you give me the correct model no. of this pc. I believe you have given me a serial code? Is this a Dell Dimension 2400 model? As for the dvd problem its a problem with the windows operating system you will have to do a repair installation of windows using the disc.

No menu bar


Left click near the bottom of the desktop and try to drag the menu bar up towards the top of your screen, if the problem lies on the desktop menu bar.

If you are in US.. you can get this from any departmental store like bestbut, costco, walmart, office depot etc.

Hi, i think u need to talk to dell support chat, they will give you more info, or else try them in parallel, i mean like terminate with a screw driver or u can download the service manual for this like Dimension E510.

How to exchange a super noisy vent inside the Dimension 9200 - where exactly is it mounted? (talking about the main/cpu vent - not GPU or powersupply)

you need to get a PCI Wireless card or a USB Wireless adapter, if you are talking about an 802.11 wireless router.
