Question about Sylvania Televison & Video

1 Answer

Just started having a language issue on only two of our channels. It is either narrated or in spanish, and then the commercials are silent. The rest of the stations are just fine what happened? I did not change anything on the tv.

Hi,

If you're saying that youhave a Spanish sound track on a couple of channels that would otherwisebe in English, what you have is the "SAP" or Second Audio Programselected in your TV's menu.

Just go into the TV's user menu, and if it hasan audio page (it probably does), select Stereo instead of SAP, thatshould fix it. Then there has to either be a CC button on yourremote or in the user menu of the TV. And all you need to do is simplyturn it off.
Once one, it would fix the issue. Let me know, if the problem still persists.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I don't know why two of the channels have started speaking Spanish. Also the one is narrating its program.

HI,
If you are using cable box the took it remote and find the button LANG(language). When you press every time the language will change. Select the on you prefer. Do the same for the channel which gives narration.

Why are some channels are in a different language

Some channels come from different countries where they speak different languages. Sometimes they are from cultural channels which address their different language speaking citizens.

Accidentally set tv to display what appears to be closed captions during a program, not commercials - in Spanish, not my language - when searching for a way to have closed captioning. It displays on only...

You have a setting on the SETUP on your remote. You have the option to use English or Spanish. Somehow, you must have accidentally changed the language. I did this on one of my TV's.
Just go through the setup again.

Hopefully this will solve your problem.

Recorded programs in english come out in Spanish

Make sure your TV hasn't been set for SAP (you'll find it in the audio settings menu). Second audio programming is often used to carry alternate languages, and if it's turned on you won't know it until you watch a program where it's being used. There may be a single button labeled SAP on the remote. If so, it's easy to change the TV setting without realizing it.

Spectroniq PLTV-20NW32 volume only works on some channels

Hi lisadean767,
It is possible that without realizing, your TV is programmed to receive SAP or Second Audio Program audio. When this happens, your TV responds like this: when SAP is not being broadcast, you'll receive regular program audio. However, when the SAP audio is sent along with the regular, (English) program audio, your TV will automatically switch to the SAP channel. You'll know your TV is programmed to receive SAP because you'll hear the commercials in English and any other program in English if the SAP is not being sent.

Check and see if your tv is setup for SAP. Let me know if this helps and if I can be of further assistance, Please rate this solution.

My tv is on spanish how do i take it off

Spanish on the screen or Spanish through the speakers on some channels? If its the on-screen display that's in Spanish, you pick the language using the setup menu with the remote control. If you're getting Spanish through the speakers, you probably have turned on the SAP (second audio program) function. In some areas with a large enough population, SAP is often used to broadcast program audio in a different language. On channels with no SAP broadcast you don't hear any problems. The SAP function is usually controlled by a button on the remote and probably got pressed by accident.
