Someone gave me a DVD 825/173 player. I need to know how to hook the thing up. There is a port that says S-Video Out on the back. I have no cable for this port. Is it important? There are also CVBS Video out ports, what are these for? Then there is a co-ax cable port labeled audio. Do all of these need to be connected somewhere, or can I choose something like the CVBS ports for video out since I can easily get a cable for that port?

the back of the vcr/dvd player will have some rca plugs that are red, yellow, white, they will be labeled out putthe yellow is video, the red and white are left and right audio, the back of your tv should have the same thing,it should say input, get a rca cable with plugs on both ends and match the plugs to the colors,if you tv or dvd player, doesnt have these, then you will need to plug your cable box into the dvd player and run a coaxial from the dvd player and tv,use channel 3 or 4 on the dvd player and 3 or 4 on the tv
Hi there. To enable your Samsung DVD player to work on your Sony Plasma, you will need two things:
1. The Power cable for the DVD player 2. The Audio(Red and White) and Video(Yellow) cables that should have been provided when the DVD player was bought. If ever these cables are not available, you may buy these at any Hyper Market such as Wal-Mart or a technology store such as Best Buy. These are called Composite Video and Audio Cables.
If you have the previous cables, connect the 3 Audio/Video cables to the back of the Plasma TV, it should contain the appropriate ports. Yellow cable(Video) for the Yellow port. White and Red for the Audio Left(L) and Right(R) ports. Then connect your power, turn the DVD on and switch from TV to other input which should display the Samsung Logo.
Make sure the speaker are plugged into the "audio out" ports. Black negative, red positive.
If a dvd players or other system is hooked up, the speaker should hook into that unit, then the unit is hooked to the auxiliary port(s), or the proper ports for each unit: ex: cd/dvd should be plugged into vd/dvd; same for vcr, game system - auxiliary is for pretty much any unit not listed on the backing of the receive - however, some units will still work while plugged into the ports other than auxiliary.
Make sure the receive is selected to the desired device.
If you simply have the speakers plugged into the speaker ports, make sure the speaker themselves are still good - try hooking them up to another source such as a a dvd player equipped with surround sound or speaker adapters that will suffice your speaker wiring.

U have a lated DVD player, like less than three years old?U can hook it up with one cable wire.It call a HDMI cable.Very easy to hook up,just one end of the HDMI cable to the tv HDMI tv port hub,the other side of HDMI cable to the HDMI DVD player port hub that it.Now u,must know with HDMI hub port u put ur signal in like 1 to 4,now go to that HDMI port hub,and will find ur dvd disc picture in playing in.
The power cord of the DVD to be connected to the power supply.
the audio cable goes from the audio pin from the DVD player to the TV audio pin.
The video cable goes from the video pin from the DVD player to the TV video pin.
Without knowing the actual ports on each of these devices, all I can suggest is that have you tried connecting your DVD to the Dish box (thru VCR scart connection at the back of the Dish box) and then the Dish box into your modulator (and then modulator into your tv.
I have a similar system set up but we have a Sky Digital box here, no idea if its the same as a Dish box but im assuming so.
My HP was doing some strange things. It would take c.d. music/some games/ some dvd movies. But, not all. I got a tip. I was told to get the firmware from HP. I went to their site and after going into troubleshooting and support, filling in a few things........I found the firmware. I downloaded for free right on the webpage with instructions. Now, My HP DVD/CD Writer 200j is working great. I hope this is helpful. I know I was bonkers before someone gave me this tip. I still don't know what firmware is but HP did.
Easy Answer! connect to composite cabels to the ports underneath the words "DVD/VCR Out" for a Coaxial, use either the component ports or connect a coaxial cable from the port labled RF Out to the one on your television.
