Rider steering difficulty

Snapper rider Model M281021BE Rider has become very difficult to steer. When I tipped it on end to inspect it, the steering wheel moves freely. When mowing, steering is difficult. I can't see that anything is amiss upon inspection. Any ideas?

First inspect all the steering parts. Inspect them closely and see if anything is worn to the point it is binding. Lubricate all moving parts. See if anything is bent or rubbing against another part. It is obvious it is only hard to steer when weight is on the front. That is a clue to what is going on. It is just a matter of looking very closely at what moves and what can cause something to no move as it should.

Grease plug locatiom snapper rider

if it's a rear engine rider with a 28 or 30 inch deck the grease fitting is underneath the deck... If it is a rear engine rider, close the fuel off and stand the mower on end but for a short period of time only. This applies to ALL rear engine riders from Snapper up until about 2 years ago when they made a SERIOUS mistake and redesigned them
