Clean out the hole beneath the lint trap. We had this same issue and were able to pull lint from the hole (a bunch of lint) giving the lint trap enough room to fit in the slot correctly. Good luck!

Purchase a lingere mesh bag.
Put delicate items in the mesh bag (has a nylon zipper) and dry.
Purchase two or three at Target, WalMart, etc.

Dryer vent broken

there's lint stuck in the side slots where the filter slides down into the ducta dryer should be pulled apart and cleaned out at least once a year more so if it's gas, unplug it,remove the bottom panel, pull out the lint filter, remove the screws that hold the duct in place, take it out and clean it,vac out all the lint inside the cabinet, set the shop vac up to blow and blow all the lint from the back forwards and make sure you blow off the motor and anything else in there and vac it up,put it back together and go to the back, remove the vent line from the back of dryer,if it's a long run stick a leaf blower into the vent line and blow it outside, first go outside and make sure the duct is open,no cage or screen that will block the lint then blow it this once a year and you'll have hardly any problems with the dryer and mostly you won't have a time send the model number so i can see what you have.

hmmm...well..sounds like your unit is eligible for a thorough(honey do) episode, if he is so inclined. Otherwise, you are experiencing what's commonly called wear and tear, from most likely faithful service of a valuable appliance.

maybe it's time to consider a new one?

if not, then taking it apart will require patience, tools, and perhaps some cleaning solutions that are not amenable to the human skin.

Look familiar? LG dryer model DLEX3250W. Lint frame does not fit the slot anymore. NOT BECAUSE OF EXTRA LINT it's because the frame is warping.

We have the same model and experience the same thing. The way I fix it is to remove the filter, then with a flash light I look down into the lint trap. You will notice that lint has built up in the track where the lint filter sits. I use a wooden skewer to run along the track and lift out the lent. Hope that helps

Lint trap doesnt fit in slot completely evenly

Remove the trap and look in the hole and see what is keeping it from going in. If the screen is damaged, replace it.

Torn clothes

there should have been a plastic gaurd on the lint catcher inside to keep this from happening, at anytime when taking your clothes out did you find something you might have though how did that get in there> could have been it, or look under the dryer and see if it made it's way out past the drum to the floor

Our dryer lint trap won't go down all the way and is catching our clothes -- ruining spaghettis straps, bras, etc., twisting everything and catching our clothes on the corner of the trap.

It may be backwards. But the first thing I would look for is if there is lint caught in the shute keeping it from going down all the way. If it is a newer model there is a lint screen sensor that may have come unattached and keeping the lint screen from going down all the way. Good luck.
