I recently bought an ipod nano 4gb and already had itunes installed for my ipod shuffle. when I connected the ipod nano it was not recognised in itunes so I downloaded the 7.5 version. However, it still does not recognise it and is saying "the software required for communicating with the IPOD is not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes"
I have lost the cd that came with the ipod nano but on the internet it says I just need to install the latest version of itunes and it will find it? I don't want to lost all my music by removing itunes 1st?

Re: ipod nano 4gb
If you install the itunes version 7.5 that you downloaded, you wont lose your music library. It is a separate file from the programs installation files. You don't need to uninstall the previous version, the new one will install on top of it.

Update the drivers for computer to recognize the player. You can go to the manufacture's website, download the drivers. Once downloaded, double-click the file that was just downloaded, then it will install the files into your computer. Then once installed, restart computer and then you should be good to go.
So you didn't know how to sync music to your iPod?
Try this: 1. Download iTunes on http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ (around 60mb) 2. Install it. 3. After iTunes installed, connect your iPod and sync music from your computer to your iPod through iTunes.
Hi, You will probably need a reset program from Apple especially for shuffles. Go to Apple support, click on the shuffle. Download the program and Save it to your desktop. Install the program. Then start the program, and then connect your shufle. It should be restored to factory conditions and ready for use. Hope that helps.
Grab your manual, and go to work - the manual is available from Apple's website if you have lost it:
