Monitor wont support 1600x1200 resolution. it displays a four inch wide bar down the right side of the monitor. It worked fine for two years and all of a sudden this.

I had a similar problem recently, green bar down middle which became "scratchy" and would come and go. I fixed (I hope) by unplugging the plug to the internal LCD panel assembly, cleaning with IPA, and re-plugging. All the covers and metal shields had to come off to do this though, a bit of a pain, and risky to the front of the panel.

Or it could be a timing issue, I know the L2035 only likes to be fed the right graphics "timings" over DVI and VGA. If out, you'll end up with an offset picture that can't be fixed by adjusting position in the monitor's menu. Re-set to standard graphics driver timings and it goes away.

A new ASUS VE208T with max 1600x900 resolution....the problem is that that resolution is not an option in my display properties. I have resolutions higher and lower than that, but the closest setting is...

The resolution option can be found by right clicking on the desktop and click properties. Then go to the settings tab. That is where you will be able to adjust the resolution settings for your monitor.

Thanks for using FixYa!

How do I change my computer monitor to 1680 x 1050?

First right-click on the desktop and then left click on Properties from the menu that appears.

The display properties dialogue box will appear as shown in fig. below, click on the settings tab at the top right of the box.

xp-screen-resolution-1.gif

The areas worth noting are: google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad); Screen Resolution
This slide bar is what you use to change the resolution, the options you have will depend on your graphics card and monitor, but the standard options are 800x600, 1024x768 and 1152x864.

Normally the default (in XP) is set to 800x600 which means the display will be 800 pixels wide and 600 pixels high.

Color Quality
This pull down box will contain the current colour options available, again this will depend on your grahics card and monitor, for best results select the highest option available.
Changing the ResolutionTo change your resolution simply slide the bar along to the resolution of your choice and then click the Apply button.

After clicking Apply your screen will resize to the new resolution and you will be presented with a confirm dialogue box, if you are happy with the way your screen looks then simply click Yes, if you would like to try a different resolution click No.

When you have finished simply close the Display properties box.

The image leaves about 2.5 inches not used on each side of the monitor.

Hello,

The bands are caused by the monitor displaying a picture that is not the correct resolution. This model has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 according to LG - see http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/product/124873/review/w2353vpf.html#specs When you have your video card set to a different resolution that this the monitor tries to adjust the display to best fit the screen. The native or default resolution is 16:9 or wide-screen and if you have the video card displaying at 4:3 then you will have the blank bars displayed. Go to display properties and change your resolution to one that is 16:9 ratio and the bars should fill out.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Monitor displays message "Out of Range" when trying to set the resolution to 1600x1200 I have NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M video card with native NVIDIA driver installed

The max resolution to your monitor is 1680x1050. The video card can't help you with the resolution if the monitor doesn't support it.

Cannot go over 1600x1200 resolution

did you get info with the graphics card? not all can go high some are lower resolution for reasons.
and be aware that monitors can not go up in resolution forever they have a max limit so based on frequency you are using you may only get 1600 x 1200 1650 x 1080 is as high as this card will go it is listed on the side bar here under editors choice.
based on monitors freq settings you may need to adjust that to get to the max

My new 19 inch 1952 LG monitor stretched my display picture from what I use to have on my 17 inch. How do I adjust the height to width ratio for a picture that isn't distorted?

Right-click your desktop, click properties
go to 'settings' and select the 19 inch monitor
now change the resolution to the format you want to use.
Set it to something like 1600x1200, or 1024x768
