I have dlink di-604,,the prob.is when i turn it on the led lights from WAN to 1234 continue blinking..i cant able to connect to the internet

Hi,

This looks like the firmware has failed on the unit as a firmware reset displays 1-4 flashing.

You can try holding the reset in while powered on for 10 sec, failing that it would be cheaper to replace the unit. You can pick up cheap routers from a company called TP-Link which are ok.

Hope this helps!

WHEN I DIRECT MY INTERNET WIRE I CAN CONNECT BUT WHEN CONNECTING IT TO ROUTER I GET LIMITED CONNECTIVITY.

It means that the router is not configured yet. First, you have make sure that your internet wire is connected to the WAN port of your router and the computer should be connected to one of the LAN ports of your router.

Check the LEDs. Be sure that the LEDs for WAN and LAN where your computer is connected to is lit up or blinking (will depend on the brand and model number of the router).

Then you need to access the Web Utility of the router to set it up correctly. You need to refer to the manual of your router. Having a router does not mean that it will work immediately once you connect your internet or modem to it. It needs configuration.

You may also contact the tech support of your router (since the brand was not provided) for assistance

Thank you!

So you are connecting the DSL Modem output to the D-Link's LAN port 1, right? In this case, you should connect the DSL Modem output to the D-Link's WAN Port, which is between the power input and the LAN outputs.

If it doesn't work that way, check this out:

Cant share internet using a router

Hi There, what model of dlink router do you have?
Also, Or just check the ports you have in your router, the internet should be connected to the WAN port and the switch and/or computers to the LAN port(s).
If the router is new by default you should be able to access internet by plug everything the way I told you.
Also, by default the router ip address should be 192.168.1.1, type that into your web browser address bar, then you will have access to the router admin web page were you can see the status page, there will tell you if you have or not access to Internet really. Maybe the problem is that the router have no access internet access at all.

I didn't quite understand what you meant but Ill explain some stuff you to that might help.

From what I understand you have a dial up router/modem, which is external (outside of your computer/seperate), and you hookup your phone line to it, which then connects into your DI-604 WAN port.

WAN Static IP settings are related to the settings given by the ISP that stay constant. There are 2 types of IP, static and dynamic. I think dial up is dynamic, since you have to connect/disconnect through the phone when you want to get on, this causes the ip to change at each reconnect, unless your ISP treats it differently.

I have no idea what you want to get out of the WAN static IP settings, but this should be handled by the dialup router/modem it self, and generally you dont have to manually enter the static ip, unless the ISP requires it, in that case you would enter this stuff there. The ISP Gateway Address refers to the ISP's router address/modem, I think, since I never heard the term before.

After "My problem:", I didn't understand your problem and can't give you further info until you clarify. Also if you internet is fully connected and working, and you still have problems then you could try resetting the router, by holding the reset button for 10 seconds. This will erase all settings. If that doesn't help try unplugging the router, then holding the reset button for 5-10 seconds, then plugging it in at the same time, then it should be fully reset, unless I forgot how it was supposed to be reset. ( I used to have the same router)

Router configuration

the computer should be connectec to the LAN port of the router, it's the modem that should be connected to the WAN port of the router. but if you're having the same problem even though your modem is connected to the WAN port and your computer is connected to the LAN port, it seems that your router is not behaving properly. it seems that the router is not functioning as a router anymore but rather as a switch. reasons are: it could be just it's not sync properly with your modem, the firmware is corrupted or the hardware itself is defective. try the steps below and check if it'll solve your problem

- power cycle your devices by turning off everything, then turn on your modem first, wait for the lights to turn on before powering on the router (make sure that all the cables are connected to the proper ports). lastly turn on your computer to check if you're online through the WAN port of the router
- if you're still not online, unplug the router from the modem and leave the computer connected to the LAN port, the press the reset button of the router (this will erase all the settings on the router and you need to reconfigure it but since the router is not working properly, you might just need to reset it)
- after resetting the router, check the ip address of teh computer connected. it should be 192.168.0.x so you will be able to access the router menu. if it's not getting a valid ip address, you can try to set a static ip address like 192.168.0.5 and ping the router's ip address. if you'll have 4 replies, try to access the router again and if you can access it, reconfigure it for internet access
- you might as well update the firmware of the router once that you have accessed the router menu just to make sure that you will not have the same problem in the future.
- if the above steps are not able to solve your problem, it could be a hardware problem and you need to get a new router

hope this'll help you

ciao

This shouldn't really be any problem simply use a short "Uplink" ethernet cable to join the routers thru the uplink port, or any port really, and that way ya should be able to wifi and access the net, set ya router that connects to the net for DCHP and disable that setting in the Wifi router and ya should be good to go?
