Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC
Only hardware change in 6 months was new monitor. When coming out of hibernation, it shuts off. Also shuts off right after splash screen during boot. After 4 attempts to boot, I get system repair utility going, which enables a full boot. I am running one hard drive with XP or can boot up Vista (Vista sucks) on the other HD. Both fail during a cold boot or coming off standby.
Strangely, when in bios and staring at the temperature, the warmer the system gets, the better my chances of booting up. ??? But it's true. Vista shuts down more quickly than XP. Graphics card? CPU? No dependable pattern here, mostly a standby or boot problem but sometimes during no particular event at all. No weird sounds to clue me in, no new beep codes.
It could be a virus that your anti viral software isn't picking up. you could try to change your settings so that you boot from a disk and your drives are set as slaves( by changing the jumpers on the back of the drive, all info on a little sticker) and run an updated anti virus program. Also, if it turns out your drives are not going to play and you have a back up of your system, format the drive and start over. hope this helps, if not, sorry ;)
