Question about Hurst Electrical Supplies

1 Answer

I just recently purchased a 1997 gmc sierra k1500 series truck. It came with a hurst shifter. My problem is this the backup lights do not activate. I changed out the bulbs and still they do not work. I traced out the wiring and the wiring looks fine. Every time I put the truck in reverse the backup lights don't work. Any suggestions?

How to get my 1997 sierra gmc pickup to shift out of park

Problem could be the brake switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
You may be able to turn the key switch past lock but not on, and then take the shifter out of park. The lock solenoid would need to be tested.

Truck will not shift out of park after replacing power brake booster

Sounds like the brake pedal is out of adjustment to the brake light switch. The brake light switch sends power to the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
Check the switch.
