Question about Westinghouse LTV-32w4 32.02 in. LCD HDTV
A little over a week ago, I had a problem where the built-in DVD player suddenly stop functioning for a little while. I reset the TV and got the DVD player working again, but everytime I switch the input to DVD mode now, a blue screen always pops up with this message in white letters: 18G0W012 FACTORY
I've tried resetting the TV to factory settings, I've tried installing a firmware update, I even called and e-mailed Westinghouse's customer support line, they told me the TV was in Factory Test Mode and gave two separate, possible solutions: Turn off the TV and press Input, Channel Up, and the Power button at the same time, using either the Remote Control or the Side Panel buttons on the TV itself.
Nothing has worked, so far. I'm almost at the end of my rope here. Am I doing something wrong? Is there any other possible way I can get that annoying message off of the DVD playback screen or is my TV cursed to display that message on the DVD screen forever? Please help...
What you could try is the following. This isn't specific to Westinghouse and probably won't work but is worth a try anyways.
Unplug your tv.dvd player from ac power and use some wire to short the live and neutral on the plug. There should be no power on this , but in case there is a electrical fault in the unit , use a isolated screwdriver to do this first before connecting the wire.
Now press the power button for 30 seconds, remove the wire from the plug and then test again.
Kind Regards
Stephan

Call them back and tell them you want the MAIN SERVICE CODE to access the menu and the re-set default values & or how to arrive at those values, then if no help, go to the "Philips North America" web-site, I believe they own "Westinghouse", yet/still and file a complaint, then the last stop is the "Better Business Bureau" and let them know this!!!

What the Westinghouse & they said its gone to factory default settings. The reason could be:
If the picture goes Blue when you load the
DVD, try another DVD to rule out the disc or a region issue. Finally,
try pressing the "Source" button on your TV remote to switch between
inputs in case your TV is switched to the wrong input.
In my opinion, it's likely a faulty DVD player unit or the internal AV
connection between the DVD player and TV circuit board inside the TV is
loose, disconnected or missing. In this case, you will likely need to
return your TV for servicing..............sodeep

I would have mentioned unplugging for 8 hours, press power button, wait half hour, plug back in. See if it resets. If not, then there is a bad data cable or capacitor on one of the system boards.. Westinghouse, Durabrand, Memorex are all cheap made brands. Memorex is not too bad for cheap. But rest will not last long due to capacitors overheating and burning out. New tv's have less air flow and overheat quick.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Okay, thanx for the tip. I will try this to see if it works and report back later on.....
Yeah, I've tried loading multiple, numerous DVDs, and the message always shows up as soon as the input source switches to DVD. I agree that it's probably an internal electronic issue with the TV, but I'm trying one more thing that another guru suggested, before I completely throw in the towel.....
Well, MNFisherman's suggestion didn't work.....:( I will call the customer service line and ask about the Main Service code.....
