Question about Maytag Washing Machines

2 Answers

My MAYTAG 8057AWW completely died during the fill cycle. I've tried various water control settings and rotating the control dial to different positions with no response from the machine. It is totally dead. I checked line voltage and confirmed that the unit is powered. I have line voltage as far as the water inlet valves. My first guess is that the control circuit board has failed but would like to know if there is any other part of the machine that could cause a total shutdown like I am experiencing. Are there any other tests I can do to confirm the circuit board is the problem?

checked power to motor. 105V...Motor not turning.

I pulled the motor and powered with clip leads at 120V and it runs fine.

Am I back to the circuit board or are there any other things I should check first?

Note: the 2 large resisters on the circuit board are getting hot enough to discolor the board. (BRRG and YPRG.)

HI. The control board is the main initiator in this case. the door switch is the only safety switch that can kill the motor. If the door switch is registering proper resistance, the control will be the culprit.

You have stated that the control board is experiencing some resistor overload issues. This will cause the board to shot, in return, preventing proper performance of the board itself, This damaged board should be replaced asap.

Possible pulse, or surge may have fried the resistors, causing this damage to the circuits.

The unit is controlled by a timer unit. Check to make sure the timer is powered, if so then replace the timer

My maytag mtw5600tq1 washer won't hold water. Its

Hi,
Its sounds like you have a siphon going on, this happens when the drain hose it too low during fill and as the water enters the unit it exits through the drain hose. To stop this the drain hose needs to be higher than the tub itself, meaning: raise the drain hose behind the washer to about control panel area. This will or should stop the siphon effect and allow the water to remain in the tub. If the drain hose is low this siphon will start again.
I hope this helps

My Maytag Neptune will not go into the spin cycle, instead the letters "nf " come on the display. What can I do to prevent this and to have the cycle completed?

Bonnie,

NF = No Fill the control board receives signaling for the washer during the water fill cycle. With most cycles the depth of water is around 3.5 inches in the wash basket. I know a Bulky Wash cycle selection will fill the wash tub to a high fill which is about 7.5 inches of water in the wash basket.

Is the washer filling the machine with any water? Do you hear water entering the machine? If you are doing a cold water fill and there is no or very little water in the wash basket with the NF error code. Try a Warm or Hot fill and see if the machine will fill and start the wash cycle.

Assuming you are doing cold water wash loads. You could have a water line block at the inlet screen or a failed cold water inlet valve which will not open. Try the above and let me know the results..........Rich

My washer filled up with water during regular beginning cycle and once fill washer just stopped. I feel like this happened before and it was something that may have gotten stuck in the drain??.....I move...

Hello LazyOne

The motor is locked out until the water level requirement is met. The level selector switch is probabably having issues, try rotating it back and forth between small / medium / large loads. If it starts to fill on larger load sizes, it will be the switch itself. If it doesn't do anything at all, it could be the switch, but most likely it is the level sensor. Both are located in the compartment behind the controls panel.

Maytag neptune, shuts down within 10 seconds after start button is pushed

If it has worked for a year and your able to choose different cycles with the same result. It seems to functions with one common element failing. If the control unit cant detect how full the machine is with water it will shut down. Sounds like a water problem steming from your pressure switch. Not sure which model you have but usually it will sit on the water pump or under the console with a clear hose if under the console. If so a quick test of attaching an ohm meter set on continuity then blowing lightly to see if under pressure the switch reacts by closing if it doesnt then the switch is bad.

Maytag MDB6650AWW will not fill

My Maytag MDB6650AWW dishwasher would not fill. The lights on the panel were on when I tried the wash cycle. I tested the water valve but no voltage was found during the cycle. I thought it may be the timer/control circuit. I traced the power from the door switch and found no power going to the float switch leg. I found two wires completely cut through (one going to the Water Valve) and three others partially sliced.
