Air conditioner is not cooling - how do I check to see if it is frozen?

If it is frozen, you will see frost under the front grill. Remove the grill and the filter - frozen? Let it thaw and start again. Not frozen ... other troubles. You might take the ac out of its case and inspect the inside - excessive dirt on the coils? Wash it off with a hose - do your best to NOT spray any controls. Drain the water and put it back together. If it still doesn't cool ... you probably cannot repair it.

Window unit spitting water out of air vent

Possible thatt due to non cleaning of the filter the cooling coil fins have got choked with dirt. The condensation of water on the coils will make it flow out of the area instead of dripping down to be drained out through the chassis out let..
So open the front grill, remove filter and use agood air /water jet to clean well so that there is air gap in the fins.
This must clear the issue as water will drop down to the back side to the chassis to be drained without any spill.

Air Conditoner not cooling entire room

I would guess by the question you posted that at one point this air conditioner DID cool the entire room. If that is in fact the case then chances are you have either 1. A dirty air filter, which can be found underneath the front grill of the unit, or 2. A dirty condenser coil, the coil found on the back of the unit, that is outdoors while the air conditioner is in the window. If this coil gets clogged up, then the proper heat transfer will not take place, and you will not get proper cooling. Hope this helps.

My split system gets cold for 1/2 hour then blows hot air, and then it will only blow hot air

1. Check to make sure everything in the condensing unit (outside unit) is running....compressor, fan motor. If you do not have electrical experience, contact a qualified service technician.
2. Check to see if the condensing coil is clean. In many cases this can be cleaned using a garden hose.
3. Check to see if there is any ice or visibly frozen areas. If so, ensure your air filter and your evaporator coil (coil in the air handler) are clean. Ensure your return grille and supply vents are open and not blocked.

Hope this helps. Good Luck! :-)

I need to clean behind the front panel of a Maytag B137FBF4 air conditioner and I can't find the manual.

The grill just has a couple of screws and spring clips. Once the grill is off pull the unit towards you, it should slide out far enough to access the back if the evaporator coil.. If it won;t slide out, look for another srew holding it to the frame. Make sure unit is unplugged. The back of the evaporator should be the clean side. The filter is oon the room side of the evaporator.

There should be a tag somewhere on it. Take the front grill off and look in the area where the fan blows out the grill face or below the evap coil face where your filter covers the coil
