Question about Fisher and Paykel Active Smart® E522BR Stainless Steel Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Open Question

F/P E402B fridge keeps beeping

I have the same problem it seems. I solved it only temporarily by deforsting the freezer compartment. A week later the problem re-emrged. I think that it might be the heater defroster and I've just ordered one for about $70.

SOURCE: Fridge is defrosting

please take a look at the compressor if it is running.

if the evaporator fan is running, the compressor should be running as well to cool the fridge.

if the compressor is running, then you have a problem with refrigerant. there could be a leak in the system.
have a qualified technician check your unit for further repair.

Fridgedaire has a lot of defrost termination switches that are separating and not allowing the defrost cycle to heat up. The defrost termination switch is located behind the wall that is icing up, take out the screws that hold the back wall in place and use a hiar dryer or hot water to remove ice do not use an ice pick or sharp object of any kind. the def terminatin sw is small and round about 3/4 of and inch thick and has two wires coming off of it one goes to the defrost heater the other usually back into the wiring harness. check it to make sure it is not coming apart. Ohm it and the heater out it should have continuity when below 20 degress. the heater should have continuity all the time,.

SOURCE: Hi, I have a Fisher and Paykel E402B

Your automatic defrosting circuit is not working. There are several components that can stop the defrosting process:
1. The defrost control
2. The defrost element
3. The defrost thermostat

Any one of the 3 can open cause the automatic defrosting process NOT to work.

If the defrost control fails, it just stops defrosting and ice builds up on the evaporator coils.
If the defrost element fails it will go into the defrost cycle and not cool again until the internal temps reach 60 Deg F.
If the defrost thermostat fails in the open position the heater will not heat up and the freezer will ice up.

There are 6 models of the R402B so I was not able to narrow down a source your exact parts data.
However, if the defrost control has failed the good news is the most expensive one is $18.95 AUD

Hopefully this gives you something to go on. I think it will either be the defrost control or the thermostat. If you can locate the defrost control turn it until it clicks ONCE and see if the unit shuts off and completes a defrost cycle. If it heats up but does not complete the defrost cycle again your looking at a problem with the defrost thermostat. If it does not heat at all then the problem is the heating element.

The defrost control will have 2 sloped tabs on it so that you can only turn the control one direction. The defrost control dial with the tabs will be no larger than 1/2 inch in diameter.

You most likely will have to make a "contact" enquiry at either site above. For the defrost tmer, heating element or the defrost thermostat.

Natasha try this:
turn off the fridge's settings.
pull the power cord from the wall outlet
open the doors and keep them so for a few hours.
before these, take out the most perishable and keep in cool place.
after a few hours you may see a puddle of water under the fridge. clean the water and vaccum the fridge underneath and behind.
now reconnect power and set at recommended level. goodluck!

Keeps getting error code dh and the fridge isn't staying cold now

Your refrigerator is telling you that it is not sensing a current flow through the defrost heater circuit within a certain number of hours. Could be a bad defrost heater, or a thermostat / fuse package located in the upper right hand corner of the freezer, behind the back wall of the freezer compartment. The reason the refrig is getting warm is that the cooling coils (behind that back wall of the freezer) are blocked up with frost, preventing air flow across them and on up into the refrigerator compartment. It is a bit of a pain to get the back wall out inside the freezer, but it will have to be done. Melting the frost off the coils with a hair blower will temporarily solve your cooling problem, allowing a week or so to get the part(s) you need.

F&P E402B Active Smart Fridge Compartment not cool

You need to start with a clean totally defrosted unit. That means clean, vacuum and wipe as much as you can around the entire motor compressor area especially any coils you can reach. Then set temp around whatever normal is and see what happens. If still the same it's time to have a tech do pressure tests.

I have a zanussu fridge

Re. Zanussi ZK87/46EFS Fridge Freezer

The same symptom occurred in our fridge freezer. The fridge compartment warmed up whilst the freezer compartment continued to keep temperature.

The cause of our problem was diagnosed as a frozen sensor that controls a flap, that controls the flow of cold air from the freezer compartment up into the fridge compartment. We were advised to power off the fridge freezer (removing all food and trays from the freezer unit first), and to leave it to defrost for 24hrs. We needed to place a few towels on the floor of the freezer compartment to soak up the melt water. After 24hrs we followed the power up instructions in the manual (versions are available online if you have lost yours). Within a few minutes it was obvious that the fridge compartment was being cooled – Problem solved :)
