I turn my Panasonic projection tv on and it turns back off. The red power light on the front then starts blinking slowly in incriments of three. Do you know what could be causing it?

Thats the error for convergence failure. You can get the PT53WX53G convergence repair kit at www.tvrepairworld.com the kit contains the parts and CD with instructions.
