if. it works for about 3-5 seconds and cuts off
then the power supply is the problem..
open and look for capacitors that is swollen, or change the 2x1000uf 10v/16v, change the 2x 470uf/10/16v ,or the 2 small caps by the inverter
may be swollen, you can use higher voltage caps , no problem

No power Westinghouse LD4655BX

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

I have a westinghouse monitor L1916hw and my monitor was fine last night but this morn when I woke up the lighting was flickering and then went black and when I turned it off and back on it will stay lit...

Get in the habbit of turning off LCD monitors when not in use. First, save electric. Second, save your monitor as LCD will burn up faster than a CRT. As for your problem, I would assume it's burning out and/or about to burn out...overheating. I would shut the entire system down, let is sit for 5 minutes and reboot everything. If it still fails to strike properly, it is probably toast.

Notes: whenthe caps went out, it may have taken out the MOSFET and fuse (can be surface mounted fuse) in the inverter circuits with it.

Moniter just stopped working. when you power it up

johnharold3, You didn't say, but I hope it's coverd by a warranty or some kind of service plan. If westinghouse can't or won't help you out, then get back here on fixya and someone will give you some help. You are not an electronic's technician or BSEE, If you were you would not have posted the symptom listed above, but would have already troubleshooted and possibly even repaired the unit. Johnharold3 you will also need to see some youtube video clips of LCD monitor disassembly, just so you can see what is inside a typical LCD. It may also be of interest to you to find out what are the top two or three reasons why so many LCD monitors (all brands) are failing prematurely. Well, anyway, it seems that the only options you have will be to trade in and get new, OR repair your current unit. Bye for now.I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com

I have a BenQ FP791 17 in LCD. I was working until one day I turned it on and it now only displays an all white screen. I plugged it in to another computer, same problem. I can add it as a second monitor to windows but all it displays is white. Windows finds it and the mouse can move over to it but I do not see anything. I am handy with a soldering iron, but not nessisarily diagnosing electronic problems.
Comment posted on Oct 26, 2008I ended up replacing the bulging capacitors on the board inside, and now it works. Thanks for all the comments and help.

Westinghouse lcd monitor 19" - screen turns white

I have the same problem with my LCD tv... The DVI-D (white connector in the back) and the D-SUB (connector on main-board next to the DVI-D) work great for my computer. However, the antenna returns only a white screen no matter what I plug into with it using a coaxial cable. Judging by the modular configuration on the TV (1 main board with LCD monitor attached to it and the 2 computer inputs, and a smalled board on the back with the antenna, component video, S-video, mini-jack out, and composite video.) I think the smaller board which I believe is called a "NR Unit" is what has failed. I took off the back mini-panel of the TV off, which just slides off when you press down 2 tabs. And, I found the small board which is only held down by 5 small screws, and it pops right off. So, if you can find a NR board from westinghouse that works, it's a quick and easy (hopefully inexspensive) replacement. Hope this helped.
