Too much suction

Help. The hose on my dyson DC07 has gone super-suction, I can't extend the hose as the suction is so fierce. I have investigated and can't find anything stuck.

Re: Too much suction

I have repaired Dyson machines for years & have never come accross this.
The only way you will have trouble extending the hose is if there is a blockage at the bend where you hold the wand could be a coin which when switched on flips accross & blocks oppening.

Is it easy to slide wand from flexi hose with machine switched off ?

If yes you probably have grit stuck under the collar that you push the button to unlock flexi hose from pipe.

I will be logged in most of the time tonight if you need more help.

Re: Too much suction

I had the same problem today. I found a clog by inserting a broom handle into the wand - the location was inside the handle of the wand (no way to see it - basically before the start of the flexible tube). I pushed the stuck articles thru to the tube & now it works just fine.

My dyson crawls up to me - hose is not relaxed

Hi Colleen,

Due to your DC07's very powerful suction, it's normal to experience a certain amount of resistance when using the hose. But if the hose seems to be pulling back excessively, this indicates you may have a blockage somewhere in the hose, wand or accessories. To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

I hope this information is useful. If you would like some further advice from our experts, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

No suction from base but from hose have checked all on your page the roller brush turns well but no suction - not an old machine DC07 but been dropped. have checked all hoses & filters.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. If you have suction from the hose but not through the cleaner head, it sounds as if you may have a blockage somewhere. Although I note you've already checked for this, you might want to take a look at our support guide to ensure you haven't missed anything:

If the machine has been dropped, you may also want to check that the internal hose is still firmly attached to the machine at both ends, and is not split or damaged in any way. The video linked below shows where this hose is located, and how to replace it if necessary:

Hopefully this should allow you to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if the internal hose appears to be correctly fitted and undamaged, and you cannot find any blockages, but still feel the cleaner is not picking up as well as it should do, please get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to provide the assistance you need. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

I just bought a used Dyson DC07. Works good but

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the wand/hose is blocked. To test this, please remove the wand from the machine and switch on, testing the suction from the top of the wand handle. If the suction is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction from the top of the hose. If its strong from the hose itself, the wand is blocked and you will need to clear this.

If there is poor suction from the hose, you can remove this by unclipping it from the base of the machine and can then remove any blockages. It is also worth checking the hose for any splits or holes.

If you need any further help or advice, please visit our website at and check out our support section.

Kind regards

My hose tools wont pick up. when hose tools unattached suction is fine and will **** my hand fiercely, but once tool attached no suction..... how am i gonna pick up cat hair from seats now?! its a dyson...

I have a DC04 and the hose tools are a open hole. The only reason they want pick up is they are blocked. If you say they are sucking your hand when not attached.Make sure the hose is not blocked by taking off the cover at the front.Allso check the cylinder rubber seal is sealing the dust container.Thats the only problem i had with mine.Good luck.

Dyson DC07 hose has no suction

Just resolved the same problem...couldn't find a blockage anywhere, but pulled handle out of hose and extended hose as far as possible upward. Aha! There was blockage in the hose at the very bottom where the flexible hose meets the rigid part.. There is a lever which releases the entry to the bottom of the hose. A pencil, lots of coins, a crumpled receipt and general dirt were stuck. Easy to clean and now it works like new again.
