The radio needs to be calibrated to the computer in your car. GM techII is needed. Once this is complete the radio will work. dealer will usually charge 1/2 hour or so to do this.

You must have the VIN of the car it came out of, go to the dealership, and they can reset it.

My 2002 blazer's factory radio says LOC on the

You need to get the radio Lock code from the owners manual or dealer and input the code. That is an Anti-Theft function in teh radio that makes it useless if stolen since you ahve to have vehicle and radio information to get teh proper code to unlock it. When you get the code make sure you write it down someplace because if you ever have to replace the battery you will need the code again.

I have a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, the Theft Lock on the radio triggered somehow, how do I unlock it?

you turn the ignition to acc or on and use the hour and min buttons to enter the 4 digit code if you are not the original owner it may be written down in the owners maual. if it is not written down it is possible a code was not assigned in this case it will be all 0's and you just need to push the power knob. if it says sec. then you have successfully unlocked the radio if not you will need to go to the dealership so they can unlock it. or you can try this

1. Turn the ignition ON (The radio should display "LOC")
2. Hold down the Radio Presets 2 and 3 buttons for six seconds
3. The radio display changes from LOC to a three-digit number. Write this number down. You now have fifteen seconds to complete the next step.
4. Press the AM/FM button
5. The radio display changes to another three-digit number. Write this number to the right of the first one.
6. You now have a six-digit number, the first three digits are from STEP 03 and the last three digits are form STEP 05
7. Call 1-800-537-5140
8. Press 1 then # (pound). You'll hear "Invalid Code, try again"
9. Press 139010 or 106010 or 206010 or 202107 then # (pound). You will be asked to enter your four or six digit code followed by *
10. Enter the number from STEP 6 then *
11. Listen to the four-digit number and write it down. It will be repeated twice
12. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC)
13. Use the MN and HR buttons to enter the code from STEP 11
14. Press the AM/FM button. The radio display changes to "SEC". Your radio is now "un-locked" and usable.
Dealership Codes
  • 139010
  • 106010
  • 206010
  • 202107

Troubleshooting
If you fail to enter the correct code eight times, the radio goes into INOP mode. You have to wait an hour with the ignition on before the radio returns to LOC mode.

CHANGED BATTERY IN 2000 OLDS ALERO. NOW RADIO SAYS LOC, CANNOT OPERATE IT NOW, HOW DO I RESET THE RADIO

your car is setup with an anti-thief system. You need the radio code that is inside your radio. Check your owner manual for the 4 digit number. If not in there then you need to take it into the dealer to unlock it.

Unlocking stereo for 2001 Oldsmobile Alero

Try this.
Here's another variation that worked for me just two days ago... you DO NOT NEED to take it to the dealer and you do NOT need to disconnect the battery, this can all be done with a couple clicks on your radio and call into that phone number.

This was posted previously on another post. ....
Procedure:
01. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC)

02. Hold down the Radio Presets 2 and 3 buttons for six seconds

03. The radio display changes from LOC to a three-digit number. Write this number down. Don’t take forever, fifteen seconds max before the next step.

04. Press the AM/FM button

05. The radio display changes to another three-digit number. Write this number to the right of the first one.

06. You now have a six-digit number, the first three digits are from STEP 03 and the last three digits are from STEP 05

07. Call 1 800 537 5140

08. Press 1 then #. You’ll hear Invalid Code, try again

09. Press 139010 then #.

The radio display changes to SEC Hope this works, Good luck. Leadispenser

Your radio is now un-locked and usable
