Check to see if you a voltage regulator on the left side of engine cover.Three wires going to it.If you dont you have a 3 amp charging system and they are known for going bad and discharging your battery. If you have an external regulator replace it.

Sounds as if the charging system on the machine is not working you will probably need to carry it to a small engine mechanic to fix the problem

Peg perego john deere tractor charger indicator light does not light up and tractor does not take a charge - brand new

first of all check for at least 12 volts from the battery and the charger, you can test this using a multimeter, if the battery doesn't show
any volts, lift up one side of the blue plastic housing on the top and verify that both the positive and negative wires are plugged in

The charging system on a C425 John Deere riding lawn mower will not charge the battery.

It could be that the battery is not taking a charge. If you have an external battery charger, try taking it out and charging it.

You should also be able to take the battery into your local auto parts store and they can test it for you for free.

If the battery tests good then you probably need to replace the alternator.

Check both belts on deck. Check if the clutch is clicking in. If not it will most likely need a new pto switch.

John deere 420 trouble starting getting gas and

The engine needs air, so be sure the air filter is clean. If it is not, replace it.

The engine needs spark. Replace the spark plug and be sure that the battery has a complete charge.

The engine needs good fuel so be sure the gas is newly purchased, not gas that has been sitting around for months.

John Deere Lawn Tractor LX176. Battery discharge

Locate voltage regulator above battery to the left as you sit on machine, its behind frame that supports steering wheel.Once you have found it use a light to shine on harness and follow the brown wire that leads into regulator. The plastic around that wire should not be burnt or showing any other color. The LX series machines had a problem with brown wire coming loose and causing the charging light to stay on.Remove plug from reg and use small screwdriver to clean out wire and work it a little so it makes good contact.
