Region code

When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player.
Region 1: U.S. and U.S. Territories, Canada
Region 2: Japan, Western Europe, Middle East, South Africa
Region 3: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast and East Asia Region 4: New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central/
South America
Region 5: Russia and the former Soviet Union, Africa, Indian
subcontinent, North Korea Region 6: China

There are computer programs capable of remove the region code from a DVD, but the result should be burned on a new DVD. Most players don't allow a change in the region code more than once. So on your player nothing to hack. Sorry

For all other options, please use Google.

Most DVD players allow one change. So if you buy a region 1 player and live in region 3 you can change the region to 3. But if you return to region 1 you can't switch back.
If you have a computer and a toaster to burn your DVD's, there are program m's that can rip a DVD to a folder on your computer and then recode the files to a DVD that has no region.
If you have lots of DVD's it would be wiser to rip the DVD to the PC, remove the region code and put the content on a media player.
In a few years you can't buy DVD's. Perhaps some blue ray DVD with 4K or 8K HD will exist for a while, but ???

What dvd region is Australia

Australia is DVD-region 4:
DVD-Region codes and countries Region code Area FREE Informal term meaning "worldwide". Region 0 is not an official setting; discs that bear the region 0 symbol either have no flag set or have regions 1-6 flags set. Region 0 is commonly referred to as "Region Free", especially when talking about DVD and Blu-ray Disc players. 0 1 United States, Canada, Bermuda, Caribbean, U.S. territories 2 Europe, Middle East, Japan, South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Greenland, British Overseas Territories, British Crown Dependencies, French Overseas departments and territories 3 Southeast Asia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau 4 South America, Central America, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea and much of Oceania 5 Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Africa (exceptEgypt, South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho), Central Asia, Mongolia, North Korea 6 China 7 Reserved for future use, MPAA-related DVDs and "media copies" of pre-releases in Asia 8 International venues such as aircraft, cruise ships, spacecraft, etc. 9 These region discs have all eight flags set, allowing the disc to be played in any location, on any player. I wish to unlock the region code so that i can play all regions

You can try either of these solutions as there does not appear to be a specific instruction for the DVD21:

Harman Kardon DVD1 / DVD5 / DVD10 / DVD20 / DVD50 / DVD1500 1. Player has to be in standby mode, no disc in tray
2. Press 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9, 2
3. Enter region (1-4)
4. Press OPEN, insert a disc

Note: Region is saved, you will have to set the RC every time you want to watch another DVD.

Harman Kardon DVD22 / DVD23 / DVD31 / DVD47 / HS100 HTS
1. Switch on
2. Press OSD
3. Select "Setup"
4. Enter 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9, 0 (the last number is the region)

See below region codes. It appears Harman Kardon only support 1-4, but it is worth trying 0 and seeing if it works.

First, see if you can find out what type of DVD it is PAL or NTSC. The difference (You need to keep this in mind when selecting your region):
NTSC: usually associated with the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Philippines, Taiwan, and other countries.
PAL usually associated with Europe, most of Africa, China, India, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, North Korea, and other countries (and Brazil, but using the refresh rate and resolution commonly associated with NTSC).

  3. Southeast Asia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau
  4. South America, Central America, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea and much of Oceania
  5. Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Africa (except Egypt, South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho), Central Asia, Mongolia, North Korea
  6. China
  7. Reserved for future use, MPAA-related DVDs and "media copies" of pre-releases in Asia
  8. International venues such as aircraft, cruise ships, spacecraft, etc.
ALLRegion ALL discs have all eight flags set, allowing the disc to be played in any location, on any player.

Iv just fitted a kenwood kvt 815 to my car im trying to play a dvd and its saying region code error

Countries around the world have their own REGIONS. If your DVD unit is for the American market then it will only read and play discs that are REGION 1 or REGION FREE. Anything else it will not. REGION 1 : United States, U.S. territories REGION 2 : Europe, Middle East, Egypt, Japan, South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Greenland REGION 3 : Southeast Asia, REGION 4 : Mexico, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Oceania REGION 5 : India, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia REGION 6 : People's Republic of China, Hong Kong
I believe you get the idea.
