Question about Logitech Harmony 880 LCD Remote Control

Hi---question, my logitech says "safe mode". I have had this for last 4 years and am not to tech savy, what do I do? Thanks

Update the firmware.

1. In the software, click "Downloads"
2. Click on "Firmware."
3. Update the remote

That should fix it!

Try turning on your computer and booting it in safe mode(heres a tutorial on how to boot into safemode: Then when in safe mode go to control panel > add/remove programs(uninstall programs) and select the logitech drivers that you have installed on your computer. Reboot your computer, if your computer goes back to normal try reinstalling the drivers, if this messes up your computer again, contact Logitech tech support.

What does it mean when the screen on the remote says "safe mode!"?

Hi. Safe mode means that you need to update the firmware on the remote.

1. Launch the software and log in.
2. Click 'Downloads' at the top.
3. Click 'Firmware'.
4. Update the remote.

Hi. I sure do know how to fix this! haha. Usually just taking the battery out for about a minute then putting it back in works, but if not it will get out of safe mode if you update the firmware.

The screen disply reads "harmony safe mode", we purchased the remote with our tv @ 1yr ago, but recieved no tech papers or cables to hook to lap top. Thanks Steve

Display shows: Safe Mode!

To get your 550 out of safe mode, follow these steps. 1. Remove the batteries. 2. Hold the '2' button down. 3. While still holding the '2' button down, replace the batteries. 4. The remote will boot into the normal functionality. Note: If the 'Off' button is held down while inserting the batteries, the remote will boot into 'Safe Mode'. Also here for manuals:

Hi. Here is how to get your remote out of safe mode.

1. Connect your remote to the computer.
2. Launch the Harmony Remote Software, and log in.

3. Click "Downloads" at the top and click "Firmware"

4. The remote will go through the firmware update.

5. Select "Yes", and click NEXT to update the remote.

Please verify that you have followed the steps below:
  1. Remove the battery for a solid 2 minutes, then reinsert and see if that fixes it.
if not 2. Try updating the firmware with the remote in safe modeSafe Mode is a diagnostic tool in the Remote used for troubleshooting purposes. If the words "Safe Mode" or "Safe Mode Requested" appear on the remote, complete the following steps:
  1. Ensure the Remote is in "Safe Mode Requested" by taking out the batteries, and disconnecting the remote from the USB cable.
  2. Hold down the Off button and plug the remote into the USB.
  3. Continue holding down the Off button for another 10 seconds. The remote should then display the words "Safe Mode Requested".
  4. With the unit in "Safe Mode Requested", re-install the firmware by clicking Support on your home page.
  5. Click Firmware in the Downloads section and follow the online instructions to upgrade the firmware.
  6. Once the firmware upgrade is complete, click Update My Remote.
  7. Insert the battery into the remote.
