Why do I not get full stereo spectrum on Ion Profile Pro turntable when connected to Dell computer?

This toy player, can be used with a USB cable, but also with tulip plugs. When you have an amplifier, you at least can test if the sound coming from the element is in stereo. If that sounds good, you know there could be something wrong in the A/D convertor in the record player, or still your computer can't handle the digital signal coming from the USB connection.
Here I found a Video, where they use the analog output and connect it to a pair of computer speakers direct.

Not all of the sound/music is being transferred from the LP.Hard to explain, but its when the LP has sound coming out of each speaker independent of one another, only one side is coming out on the recorded...

I know this is an old post, an I dont' have a solution yet, but t seems the same problem as on my Ion USB recorder - One of the input channels is not working. Like you, I found one of my music tracks not plying right - there was only the instrumental and no vocal. When I experimented, and changed round the jacks on the cable coming from the turntable (red and white plugs), I then got only vocals and no instrumental. Obviously one of the input sockets on the USB recorder is no longer working (I already checked the turntable and cable itself by playing back he same track with both stereo channels through my amplifier). You can either get the item replaced if its still under guarantee, or fix it yourself, if you have the necessary skills, neither of which apply to me.

Set your Audacity software to STEREO MIX on the main window. Go into EDIT, Preferences and set the recording device to your sound card and the channels to 2 stereo.

I purchased a Vibe Sound 3 Speed Turntable w/USB to PC and it does not have sound when I plug it in to the USB. The record is spining and I can hear sound from the needle.

The turntable won't make sound on its own when connected to the USB port. There are probably some drivers on the CD packed with the table that you'll need to install, and then you'll need to select the device in the Windows sound control panel. You'll also need some software to record and edit your vinyl if you want to transfer your records to CD.

I'm not familiar with the brand of turntable you have, just the ION, but it probably came bundled with some application on a CD. The ION table comes with Audacity, as well as some trial versions of audio processing (click and pop filter, hiss remover, etc.). Audacity is free, open-source software you can download here if you want it. It allows you to listen to and record your vinyl audio as wave files, then edit it, split tracks, add effects, and other fun things.

I solved the problem by using www.wiki.audacityteam.org home page under the technology heading and clicking on USB turntables. The mixer had to be changed to 2 channels. (stereo)

ION TTUSB10 turntable plugged into Toshiba laptop,

Maybe the output is not good enough for line in on laptop try mic in, then double click the sound icon down bottom right where time is, goto options, properties, then recording inside of recording make sure all boxes are ticked so you have all options like mic wave stereo mix line and so on, click ok, now make sure what ever you have the turn tables pluged into is selected as your recording device and not muted try again, once this is all ok ., it should work. hope this helps. also make sure your software you use to record is also set up same. take care

Recording in mono and not stereo

Thanks for your rapid response. Fortunately I discovered the problem and was able to resolve it. Whether it is just my computer or all computers I wouldn't know. When I switched my computer off, after recording vinyl to my pc, then switched it back on again my pc had reset the default input so I had to reconfigure it again. Since then I have not used it but wonder if I have to reconfigure the recording device everytime that I switch my computer on. I did make the USB Codec microphone my default recording device and applied the setting but the pc seemed to do its own thing.

All the best

Recording one channel only

I had the same problem on a turntable and it was the cable, those rca cables are notorious for breaking inside at the plug end. The stylus cartridge not being completely plugged in may cause it too I imagine. I'd bet it's the right rca cable broken inside at the plug end.
