Question about Kenmore 84052 Dryer

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore electric dryer series 80...It tumbles but suddenly no heat??? I need to check the fuse but I don't know how to get at it? I have the back TOP panel off & it has a piece of paper with a legend which is great but I need help w/ interpretation. The only thing I read about a fuse is it says on that legend "thermal fuse not resettable 196 degrees"...Then all the way to the left of the upper back panel is a panel that resembles fuses maybe as it looks like the small car fuses I have seen...Can you help me find the fuse??? Thanks so much...Sincerely Sue

First its not the fuse or thermal fuse
if that was bad you would not get tumble
it is your heat package
remove the back panal, lower right is you heat
making sure the unit is unplugged disconnect the heat 3-4 wires and one 5/16 nut on the left lip
take out the heat and visualy inspect,,,

Kenmore 80 series dryer does not hest

Hi

If the dryer is not drying the clothes then you would need to check for the following things-

Electric Dryer---

1. Inspect the fuses and circuit breakers they may have burned out or tripped. Usually, dryer will still tumble but not create heat if a fuse or a circuit breaker is not working.

2. Check for the amp reading at 240 V, it should have reading of 24, 21 and 3 amp (approx.) for 2 lines and neutral respectively.

3. Heating element may have turned or the connection to the element might be loose. Sometimes a shorted circuit element will keep on blowing the fuse or circuit breaker.

4. Motor wiring shorting to ground.

Gas Dryer---

1. Inspect the fuses and circuit breakers they may have burned out or tripped. Usually, dryer will still tumble but not create heat if a fuse or a circuit breaker is not working.

2. Check for the continuity of the heating element in your gas dryer using a multimeter. Replace the element if continuity is not there.

3. Inspect the thermal fuse if it is burnt out, it is attached to the exhaust duct on the back panel of the gas dryer. Replace if necessary.

4. Check the igniter by first disconnecting it, and then place the probes onto the two contacts of the igniter. The meter should read under 100 Ohms of resistance, if it is above 100 then replace the igniter.

5. Check the continuity on the flame sensor. The sensors are usually located close by the igniter so are easily visible.

Hope this helps...

My kenmore (80 series)clothes dryer is tumbling and the motor is runing but the heat is not working. what can i check or replace to slove to problem. Thank you for your time.

First, make sure that there is no ventilation issue and that the vent is clean and clear. If the dryer isn't heating, check for a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. Both components can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty component. Both components are located in the rear of the dryer. The thermal fuse is about an inch long and is usually attached to or near the exhaust duct. Remember to disconnect the dryer from the power source before attempting any repair.Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

Kenmore series 80 gas dryer tumbles no heat

Yes. If the thermal fuse has no continuity, then the fuse is bad. Replacing it should get you back in action, barring any other defective items like the heating element, etc. Best wishes.
