No there is no fuse, the switch contacts might be dirty but usually you would have to replace the switch, I have tried a couple sites that I use and haven't found your tool number, if you need more help would you please recheck the model and brand and I will try and find a switch for you, also most electrical repair shops might be able to match up a switch for this tool, make note of the wiring if you take it out.

Sander has 2 slotted rotating rollers one on each end the paper gets fed in as you rotate roller, which will grasp paper and hold, feed/wind roller with slotted screwdriver till paper secure. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

I keep getting shocks from skil pp gf30 palm sander

The case should be plastic and the sander is supposed to be double insulated. About the only way to get a shock is from a damaged power cord. Check for splits or exposed wire where the cord enters the sander.

How to replace the sand paper on skil sander hi speed 439

the skil 439 is a palm orbital finish sander. To replace the paper, pop the springs off the side where they take a 90 degree turn towards the work surface. To replace paper, rip a piece of standard sand paper into quarters, reverse removal and done. It's a pretty nice older sander and yes I have one.

I just aquired a used Skil Model 409 orbital sander and am having trouble inserting the paper. Is there a technique peculiar to this machine that?

Sorry, I was missing that part. You got it right, though. three hands is the answer. Orrr, you could go get some nice sticky back papers and cheat. They come in a variety of sizes or can be cut from full sheets. what you have there is a good sander to use while you figure out what kind of sander you want:)
