SOURCE: truck wont start

Check your crank sensor, it bolts to the block on right rear and goes down into the trans bellhousing . You might have got the wire pinched between the trans and the engine.

Have a brand new snapper push mower used once now it won't stay running when set down flat to start cutting what's wrong with it

what do you mean set down flat? it should always be set flat. if you had it tipped over or standing on end that's why it wont run. take out the spark plug and try to start it a few times. with the plug out it wont start you just want to blow out any oil or gas that may have got in the cylinder. put a new spark plug in it. it should run now.

U tube chainsaw pull cord wont pull start

Some saws with autotmatic oiling will leak bar oil into the cylinder and cause this. Pull out the spark plug and hold the saw so the oil runs out of the spark plug hole. Pull the starter cord till no more oil sprays out of the hole.Clean the oil off the plug and start your saw. It will smoke more than normal till the extra oil is burned out.

Homelite power washer too much oil

Hi Martin, check the level of the oil in the engine, if the level is low, the machine has been tipped on the side and the oil has gone over the head. Make shore that engine is on the flat ground when used or transported. Tilting the unit over 20 degrees will cause the oil to go over the head. Two ways to fix the problem pour some petrol in the cylinder, put a rag on the spark plug hole and pull the starter rope few times to clean the cylinder, repeat the same until the cylinder is clean. You have to check the carbi for oil getting into it, and clean it. Make sure you clean all the petrol before attempting to start the engine. It is a bit messy but not require to pull the engine apart. The other way to clean the oil is to remove the cylinder head off and clean it, its the proper way of doing the job, but requires a lot of dismantling. Hope this helps. Cheers

Pressure washer hard to pull string

Unless your unit is equipped with an easy start feature...and I think these are not, it is not usual to have to pull the trigger on the water gun to start one of these units. Also...if there is any chance that the washer has tipped over, there is a possibility that oil has gotten into the engine cylinder. Oil will not compress and the rope cannot be pulled..at all. Remove the spark plug and step back away from the exposed hole. Pull the recoil handle and watch for spraying oil from the spark plug hole. Pull a few more times, clean up the plug and the unit may start. If not, you may have to remove the carb bowl and drain more oil. Check your oil fill level. If your gas level is suddenly low you may have gas in the oil crankcase and need to change your oil. When the washer starts it may blow smoke for some time before it clears up.

My edger tipped over briefly, now the starter cord is hard to pull and it won't start.

Try removing the spark plug and squirting some carb cleaner or starting fluid in the cylinder. Pull the starter cord several times for the piston to drive out the oil. Clean the plug and replace it. Try to start as normal. If you have starting fluid squirt a shot in the air cleaner to help make it easier to start the first time.

Ran last year, won't start this year. Changed fuel and replaced spark plug. Checked spark and attempted to start with battery and tried with pull cord but no start. pulled plug and it had fuel on it so...

It might have tipped over on its side. Look at the air filter, if you see oil or gas on the filter then you might have to remove and clean the carburetor. I would start by cleaning/replacing the air filter and trying it again. If its getting fuel and the spark plug works then the only other side of the fire triangle is air.

Tractor was tipped and will not start

Depending on which way the mower tipped over and how long it stayed that way there are a couple things you should check. First, the oil in the crank case. Many times when engines are on their side, gas can freely flow from the carburetor into the cylinder and down into the crank case. If this happened the oil level will be very high and the oil will be thinned out. A simple oil change will take care of this. Remove the spark plug and check the cylinder for gas or oil. With the engine on its side either gas from the carburetor or oil from the crankcase can fill the cylinder above the piston and make it hard for the engine to start. With the plug out, run the starter several seconds to clear the cylinder out. If oil is the problem, squirt some gas in the plug hole to thin out the oil so it will come out the plug hole when you run the starter. Replace the plug, check the oil level and try to start the motor. It may take several tries and the motor may smoke a lot when it starts. This is OK as it has to burn out anything in the cylinder to get back to normal.

Mower was tipped upside down and now won't start

First check to see if you have enough oil. If you do does the engine smoke? If it does, continue to start and let it run until it stops. If the time it runs keeps extending, keep doing it. You are trying to burn out the oil that leaked in to the cylinder when it tipped. If that doesnt work, write..Good Luck...Lee

1994 dodge 1500 wont start after changed plug wires

Make sure your firing order is correct. Also if you replaced cap and rotor make sure coil wire isnt loose. If you cant find the firing order its stamped on your intake manifold, cylinder numbers should also be stamped above each cylinder on the manifold.

Wont Start

Have another look at your plug wires, and make sure that you have them in the right order. As you probably know, if the firing order is wrong, you can have problems. That is somewhere for you to start, anyway.
