Re: Flashing light

Here is what i found, let me know if it works for you. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: stars-3-0._v47082372_.gif Easy fix for GX250, June 11, 2006 By J. Petrosky - See all my reviews
c7y_badge_rn_1._v47060296_.gif I recently repaired a GX250 that refused to turn on (flashing power led), and apparently this fix works for most other problems too, including "no disc" errors and no sound output.

What you need to do is clean and reseat the (widest) white ribbon connector that connects the front panel to the large circuit board on the side. To get to the connector, you'll have to take off the sides and the top, and then unscrew the cd tray so you can lift it up and get your arm and hand in far enough to reach the connector from the opposite side. Then unplug the ribbon cable, blow the connector out with some compressed air, and plug it back in firmly.

CD function in 5 disc stereo constantly flashing "CHANGE"

Open the drawer and check to verify the disc was put in the disc 1 position. Sometimes the changer gets confused if disc 1 is not in the disc 1 cavity. Also, 5 disc changers are very prone to failure

Why did this turn off by itself?

You may have a problem in the audio output chips in the unit, first check the speaker wires on the back for shorts, a common problem, if okay you will need a technician to take it to the next step.

My sony cmt-nex3 has the standby light flashing, but when i press the on butto, it doesn't turn on

Check the back for speaker wire shorts, next! there may be a short in the audio output chip or surrounding parts in the stereo, this is more suited for a technician to sort out.

The on/off switch on my Technics integrated stereo amplifier IHF'78 only functions once in a while. When the light comes on I have to hold the switch in with a pin.

For BEST results reorder the front control circit board that contains all the cotrols and volume controler. the mechanism in the botton has failed. you may also try using the remote to turn off and on.The new method of constructing circuits is the printed circit board which is very difficult to repair. replacinc the circuit board is often the only solution.

I don't know which are the + and - exits for the speakers on my sony cmt-cpz1. I have bought new speakers and I want to connect them correctly, so now I am in problems, for there is no + and - indicated...

Plus and minus for the speackers are only to keep them in phase. You can safely connect any way. Then just experiment by changing the polarity on one speacker to get the best stereo effect.

My stereo doesn't turn on!

If the red light is flashing, this indicates the unit is getting some sort of power...I assume it is a unit that plugs in to the wall.....
could be a number of things...a component in the unit, the power button not working, or a fuse....its time to take it in.......if it is expensive enough to keep, weigh the cost of the unit against an estimate on the repair job, given to you from a repair shop..then you will know whether or not to proceed, or give up the ghost and buy a new one.

Sony LBT W5000

According to Page 46 of the LBT-W5000 Operating Instructions:
"The display stars flashing as soon as you plug in the power cord even though you haven't turned on the system (demonstration mode).
Press DISPLAY (for LBT-W5000 / W300 / XB700 / XB500) or DEMO (STANDBY) (for other models) while the system is off. If the system is in the Power Saving mode, press POWER SAVE / DEMO (STANDBY) (for LBT-W5000 / W300 / XB700 / XB500). The demonstration appears automatically the first time you plug in the power cord, or if there is a power outage lasting longer than half a day."
I tested this today, as my LBT-W5000 was in Demonstration Mode. It definitely works. The only catch is (at least on the W5000), and it's a minor one, you have to reset your clock afterwards.
