Mine was having the same problem. Just heard back from the shop and they said it's the light engine. They want $750 to fix!!!

SOURCE: TV won't stay on. Green & Red light timer-lamp (Green) stand by/temp (red) flash.

Most likely needs a new lamp. Easily done yourself.

SOURCE: Sony Wega kdf-55wf655 rear projection set keeps turning on and off

Had exact same problem with my KDF-55WF655 and put in new projection bulb assembly and no more cut out plus picture is much brighter even on standard. Next time will just by bulb and install in old assembly as it looks straight forward now that I know what assembly looks like. Got about 7200 hrs. out of OE projection lamp and almost 4 years service.

Replace lamp in tv as this symptom shows existing lamp is near to end of its working hours life span and need to be replaced.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and would be written in user manual.
Buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv.

It sounds like wiring is wrong.

If you have GE Tork Intermatic UPM Woods Brinks Hagar Pass-n-Seymour Stanley Westek in-wall timer, with red, black, white and green wires, then you probably put red and white wires together.

Heres how to wire timer
1) Timer-green-wire connects to bare ground wire.
2) Switch has 2 wires. Take switch wires and connect them to timer-black-wire and timer-red-wire. Choose either one for now.
3) In back of electric box are white wires twisted together and covered with wire nut. Connect timer-white to these wires.
4) If electric box does not have white wires described above, then connect timer-white to bare ground, along with timer-green wire.
5) Turn on electricity, and push ON-OFF button > with GE timer, door is push-button switch. If lights come on, timer is wired correctly. If lights do not come on, then reverse timer-red and timer-black wires.

On/off green light flashes. Picture comes on for

the timer is set for a short time, try to get to the menu quick and turn off the timer it may take several tries.

Hello!
Lamp or ballast(if lamp has been replaced) is bad.
Explanation: green comes on: system works, waiting for light to shine into light engine: no light is coming out of lamp, system shuts down, then you see red! how to determine: pull the lamp out of the unit's compartment. Inspect lamp: bloated stem? shuttered? reflector is not shiny? Chuck it!
Lamp looks good or just been replaced: try ballast. Close lamp compartment without lamp itself. Make sure, door is shut, as well. Turn unit on and listen close to lamp compartment: good ballast will make a buzzing noise, then stop. You've got "red'! No buzzing: ballast quit. Needs major repair! Lamp must be good, for sure, to get to the last part of diagnostics. Conclusion: more, than 2000 hours of usage: replace lamp first!

i have a Philips 37pf9975/12 and after about 1hr it switches itself off the green light stops on the side but you loose picture and sound. if you push the stand by button it clicks for about 1 min and then turns itself back on???????
