Running but not cooling

I have tried to unplug the refrigerator for a day or two for three different times but problem seems to come back. The refrigerator and freezer starts running and cooling fine but eventually after a while the back part of the freezer starts building up ice and then stops cooling in the refrigerator. Help please

Pull the refrig out , unplug , and on the back , remove the 8 " X 10 " panel . Behind this panel , is the main control board . On this board , you will see a blue plug ,with 3 larger wires going to it , which you need to unplug .
You will need a short piece of insulated wire , with both ends stripped about 1/4 inch .
Looking at the plug , you will see : wire1 wire2 space wire3 . With the piece of wire , insert 1 end into wire2 , and the other end into wire3 .
Plug the refrig back in . Looking in the freezer section , behind the crisper , after about 1 min , you should see a " red " glow .
If no red glow , this means your defrost heater AND bimetal need to be replaced . Unplug the refrig , remove jumper wire , and plug the blue receptical , back onto the board . Reinstall the panel .
To replace these , remove the food in the freezer , and remove the inside freezer panel ( 4 screws hold this panel on ) , and the heater is below the coils ( 2 screws ) , and the bimetal is clipped on the top of the coils , a 1 " cylinder , with a pink and blue wire going to it .
Part number for the heater WR

Part number for the heater WR51X10042

Part number for the bimetal WR50X10068 .

If you do get a red glow , then the #4 thermistor is bad , not telling the control board , the correct evaporator temperature . If replaceing the #4 , then replace the # 5 also . The #4 thermistor , is clipped on the top left of the coils . A 1" torpedo looking piece , with 2 white wires going to it . The #5 , is located behind the crisper , on the left , slightly in front of the drain , inside a small housing , with 2 white wires going to it . This is the freezer temp thermistor .

Also , if someone suggests replaceing the main control board , because of this problem , then they should be classified as a beginner and not an expert .

Any more questions , please feel free to ask , and either myself or another expert (hopefully) , will be glad to help you .

Part number for the thermistors WR55X10025 . #5 , on you model , is behind a grill looking piece , on the right side , at the bottom of the freezer . Not behind the crisper .

It sounds to me like you are having a problem with your defrost. Most of the time it turns out to be a bad defrost timer. Hope this helps

Fan and compressor running but fridge not cooling

Your defrozed cycle seems to be not working. Means there can be problem with heater , timer or defrzed board or defrozed thermostat. You have to open panel from coil to diagnosed this.

I am not a refrigerator repairman but I do know that most times the oil for the compressor, which runs with the "freon" is stored at the bottom. Moving it from side to side could mess up the oil needed for the compressor. If you do that again, I think you should unplug it and then let it sit idle for a little while for the oil to drain back into the reserve.
Maybe someone else can give you better advice. It might get back to normal but I would go easy on it for a while if it were me.

Refrigerator seems to just turn off for a day or so every two or three weeks and all the freezer items melt. Kicks back on after some time and works fine for another 2-3 weeks then repeats. Have unplugged...

Most Refrigerators have a defrost timer which cycles every couple of weeks, typically for several hours, in order to let any residual ice melt from the cooling system. If yours cycles long enough for the freezer items to melt, it should be replaced.

I have a Kenmore Refrigerator that a friend just gave me that is about 5 years old in good condition. On the move we didn't lay it on it's back, but of course it was tilted back at times. Transported it...

How long have you let the unit run? Sometimes if you leaned it back too far you need time for the oil in the compressor to recess..to go back into the compressor. It normally takes a refrigerator 24 hrs. to cool but also up to 72 hrs. if after three days of continous run and not cool at all then you have a restriction in the system, in this case oil in the lines or a stopped up liquid line dryer. It's a filter for moisture and impurities in the closed system. Otherwise give it time to cool without putting the settings all the wayup. Put them on the factory settings usually in the middle of both knobs or whatever you have for adjusting the coolness. Overheating the compressor will not cool the unit and you might try shutting the unit down for a day and then resume again the next day at middle or lower settings. Make sure never to lay a refrigerator over on it's side! The life of a refrigerator should be up!

Refridgerator Not Cooling

If top is compleatly warm it is probley the fan motor, lot of failures on them. Replacement one will be a different looking motor. Verify motor is not turning, located in the back of the freezer in the top middle, behind small grill. Will see fan blade pointed up, should run whenever compressor is on.

The coil was frozen on my unit as well. Guinco tech Ron announced that this was a bad system board. Seems to be resolving as of this writing.
