I can't upload video from my Canon DC220 to Mac OS 10.4.11. I can view using DVD player, but iMovie '08 does not seem to recognize my camcorder. When I try to use the "upload from camera" feature in iMovie it only gives me the option of the iSight camera built into my computer.
I lost my camcorder manual, which doesn't help, but I found a pdf version online and it's just as worthless as I remember from the last time I tried to do this 2 years ago. At that time, I was able to make it work ONCE but it took me hours and hours, and I can't for the life of me remember how. The disk is showing as finalized, and when I plug the camera into my computer it says "PC Connect". I'd toss the darned thing out the window, or maybe drive my car over it, except that I have some very important video that I want to preserve first. Help!

- Okay, I tried again today, and I looked for more info online first. I found this tutorial: http://tutorialblog.org/importing-video-into-imovie/
It was basically the same things I had done before that didn't work, (except for clicking the camera icon, I think I went to the menu and selected "import" the previous times) but for kicks and giggles I tried it all again. I got the same message on the camera, which said that the disc was finalized and I couldn't record, and iMovie still didn't recognize it. I pushed the on/off button again, towards "mode", and it went into PC Connect, which it had also done before, although I couldn't remember exactly how I had gotten there last time. The manual absolutely sucks as far as explaining exactly how to do things, especially for us Mac users.
Anyway, THIS time, things started happening and iMovie recognized the camera and led me through the steps to import video. So it's done, yippee!!!! I'm still giving away the POS camera though - I bought a Flip UltraHD that couldn't be simpler and records two hours of excellent quality video.
Good luck Brynner, hope you have success too.
