Question about Craftsman Saws

1 Answer

Back in 1995 or 1996 I bought a Craftsman table saw Model 137.221940, which has continued to run very well, except that the blade has grown slightly out of line with the miter gage track. I long ago lost my owners manual and now don't know which bolts to unfasten the table top to get at adjusting the trunions. Try as I might, I can't seem to find a replacement manual for sale. Help!

MITER GAUGE ADJUSTMENT (FIG, O)
1. Make sure that the mitergauge will slide freely
through both table grooves.
2. Loosen the
lock knob (1). Set pointer (2) at the 90°
mark
on the scale.
3. Using a piece of scrap wood, make a 90° cut. Then
check the cut piece to see if it was cut at 90°. If not
90° , continue to adjust the miter gauge body (3) until
the wood piece is cut at 90°.
4. When a 90° degree cut has been made, loosen the
pointer screw (4) and set on the 90° scale mark.
Tighten screw.

RIP FENCE ADJUSTMENT (FIG. P)
To avoid injury from an accidental start, make sure the
switch is in the "OFF" position and the plug is not
connected to the power source outlet.
1. The fence (1) is moved by lifting up on the handle (2)
and sliding the fence to the desired location. Pushing
down on the handle (2) locks the fence in position.
2. Position the fence on the right side of the table, and
along one edge of the miter gauge grooves.
3. Lock the fence handle (2). The fence should be
parallel with the miter gauge groove.
4. If adjustment is needed to make the fence parallel
to the groove, do the following:
5. Loosen the two screws (3) and lift up on the handle (2).
6. Hold the fence bracket (4) firmly against the front of
the saw table. Move the far end of the fence until it
is parallel with the miter gauge groove.
7. Tighten both screws (3) and push the handle (2)
to lock.
8. If fence is loose when the handle is in the locked
(downward) position, do the following.
9. Move the handle (2) upward and turn the adjusting
screw (5) clockwise until the rear clamp is snug.
Do not turn the adjusting screw (5) more than
1/4 turn at a lime.
10. Over-tightening the adjusting screw (5) will cause
the fence to come out of alignment.

I bought a craftsman dado blade set but can't find the instructions and I have no idea how to use it. Is it possible to get instructions

Dado blades are used in a variety of saw applications. Commonly tables saws. The manual for your table saw should identify if the saw is capable of using this blade-set Never used dado blades in a saw that is not intended for them as this can result in severe injury to yourself and or damge to the tool. If your are unsure if your saw can accomodate dado blade please post your make and model of saw and someone will try to help you.

Have a Craftsman 10" Model 113.241691 table saw

I have the same table saw. Mine has done that for the past 25 years and I've always considered that it's just the flexible shaft coming up to speed. It's never given me any problems so haven't looked into any further.

I just bought this table saw and when i tilt the blade to 45 deg. the blade rubs on the blade insert. also when i put it together it didnt come with a riving knife and hardware.

I ran into that kind of problem with my Craftsman 10 table saw. I (an usual) over analyzed the problem and looked at moving the entire motor assembly from left to right slightly. In the end, I found that that the blade stablizer plates I used on the left and right of the blade, moved the blade that little bit needed to make the blade tips make contact. I removed the two stablizer plates, reinstalled the blade with the normal to flat washers and gave it a try. The blade now cleared the insert when pushed all the way to 45 degrees.

You might want to look to make sure there are no extra washers/spacers on the arbor that might move the blade slightly left or right from its normal position.

Craftsman 10in Table Saw Model No. 315.218060 Dust bag

all the manual says is to insert the elbow onto the tube coming from motor and then install bag onto the elbow and for maximum performance empty the bag before it gets half full. On most table saws that I work on there is no fan or anything like that to force the dust away from unit, the best way is to run a shop vac and connect to the elbow for mazimum dust removal.

Blade does not turn

Disconnect the electric from the saw. Remove the throat blade cover. Bring the blade all the way up. Look for wood  caught between the blade and anything else. Finding none, remove blade. Try motor w/o blade. If it runs now,w/o the blade then the motor is likely ok . Reinstall blade. Now if it stil stalls, Replace motor.
