The camera is dead, doen't turn on, and the batteries are new.Help!!

1)Try a full reset of the camera by removing the batteries for 24 hours. It's possible that the battery monitor circuit is stuck on the wrong value. Often with electrons, by removing all power from it for a day, it drains it if any backup memory it might have and will reset. (Kind of like how if you pull the plug out of your TV for 5 minutes and then plug it in it's fine, but pull it out for a few days any you may have to totally reprogram the channels on the TV)

2) Some cameras just don't do well with regular alkaline batteries. And the older your camera gets, maybe the more it's eating up power. You could try rechargable lithiums, you may find they will work better.

Battery is lasting a couple of days and 5 pictures???

How old is the battery? A rechargeable is only meant to last about a year, no matter if it was used or not. Her's some inexpensive generic replacements from Amazon.

Kodak Z1085 IS - drains battery even when camera is not on

the camera takes 1.5v to operate it
anything less the camera will shut down
recharge batteries are only 1.4v so at full
recharge it won't last long
The best batteries are litheum that have the right
volts and capacity to keep the camera going.
try turning or the camera stablizer setting...
might save your battery power.

Hey Fish stix,
AA batteries all have the same output no matter what type they are so AA lithium rechargeable batteries should work fine in your camera, and probably better. I hope this helps!

Flash drains Li-Ion rechargeable batteries instantly

Inferior batteries from a dodgy site on E-bay -at a guess Sport out on some regular batteries. Shooting in brief mode I would think takes a larger whack out of the batteries than ordinary shooting I would imagine. What are the pictures of?
