For Jasmine rice, we use 1.5 C dry unwashed rice to 2.5C cold water.
For Japanese short grain sushi rice which needs washing, we use 2C dry rice, wash and drain it, than add 2.5 C cold water and let soak for 10 minutes, than cook.
For brown rice, we use a 2:1 ratio, water to rice, with 20 minutes soak time.

the plastic measuring cup they provide holds 2/3 cup. The markings on the cup go by 'measure' or 'serving' but the markings on the bowl are by ML or cup. I follow the cooking chart - 1 measure of rice (which is 2/3 cup) and water to the 1 cup mark on the bowl - and the rice burns every time. It says nearly an hour for brown rice, but all the water is gone after 20 minutes and the rice is hard! The directions on the package say 1 cup of rice and 2-2.5 cups of water... a minimum ratio of 1:2 ... the cooker ratio is 1:1.15. They explicitly say in the manual NOT to follow the rice's instructions but clearly their instructions are mathematically wrong.

On the Black & Decker RC3406 rice cooker, how much is a measure? The cup that comes with it has markings of 1/4, 1/2 & 3/4 then there is a line that also goes around. The book says something about a measure being 2/3, I am very confused.
