Question about Sony KDF-E50A10 50 in. LCD HDTV
KDF 46E2000 has a stripe at the top of the screen, about 1 inch tall, tinted orange (little or no green light).
What causes this problem? I am not afraid to take TV apart. Can I fix it myself?
This problem is caused by a defect in the optical block. It causes about 1 - 1.5" tint usually green, orange, or yellow at the top of the screen. The part is very expensive, retails around $600-800 usually. You cannot fix it without replacing the optical block. They did have an extended warranties for this particular issue because of a class action lawsuit on certain models. Call Sony to see if your model is one of the ones they extended the warranties.
