Unfortunately you can get it to do what you wantas the mobo simply wont go that far. It will basically carash out at around 3GHz. If you get hold of a P31 then you can go to 4.25Ghz or thereabouts!

I have a gateway msi ms-7399 motherboard. I want to know how far I can go with the fsb. I already upgraded to an E6300 2.8 ghz w/FSB at1066. I wanted to know if I could install an E8400 at 3.0 ghz w/ FSB 1333?
I understand that that the rarted fsb is 800 but I already up it by installing an E6300 with a fsb at 1066 and the motherboard reconizes it and works fine. My question is can I go higher to an E8400 with a FSB at 1333? I started out with an E5200 at 800 fsb. please help Marc
Ted so if I go out and buy the E8400 my motherboard will accept the 1333 FSB without any problems
TED,
I appreiciate your help. I can't overclock my computer so I wanted to get the max out of it by replacing the processor. First I was gona go with the E7500 because I wasn't sure if my motherboards FSB went as high as 1333. I know it accepts the 1066 because, I put an E6300 in at 1066 and it runs fine. So you are sure that my motherboard will accept the E8400 at 1333 FSB. I just don't want to buy it and then it doesn't work or worse.
The E8400 runs at 3.0 GHZ with a FSB at 1333.
The E7500 runs at 2.93 GHZ with a FSB at 1066. I'm sorry to bother you like this I just want to be sure I can use the E8400.
I had gotten one responce from another techie saying that my mother board can't go over 3.0 GHZ, Then I got your responce and I was releaved when you said I could use the E8400. So if you could double check for me I waould greatly apreaciate it thanks so much for your time. Marcmd3
I have a gateway DX4720-03, I want to know if I can drop an E8400 in it. I started with an E5200 at 800 FSB, Then I put an E6300 at 1066 FSB. I saw better performance. Now I want to know if I can go futher to an E8400 at 1333 FSB. ITS the motherboards FSB Max I'm worried about. (MSI ms-7399)
Thanks for your time. I greatly aprieate it. I had a couple of replys from some guys that didn't really look into it, and they gave me beat info. Thanks I'm happy I don't haver to buy a motherboard now. All I wanted to do was up the ram speed and the processor and now I know I can. Thanks, Marc
