Problem removing the cover to replace a CD drive

I have a Dell Demension XPS T550 which has a broken CD drive that I'd like to replace, I can get the cover off (looking at the tower from the front it's the left hand side of the case that I've removed) and have removed the two screens for the holding the drive in place. However are there not screws on the opposite side of the drive cage that would need to be removed also.. How do you get at these screws.

I can't seem to find the original service manual that I received with the computer when I purchased it in 1999.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

No hinge just a single screw holding the drive cage to the chasis.. Had to disconnect the cables and remove the entire drive cage to get at the screw on the opposite side of the busted cd drive to remove it.

New dvd drive installed back in business..

    thanks

Remove the two screws on that side of the case on the back and then pull back on the panel It should slide back and off, The screws should be there where you can get to them. If that don't work there may be a tab inside by the drive you can push the button and the hole drive cage will turn out on a hinge, I hope that you can get them out now.

Cd jammed in a dell pp31l

There are two ways toopen the CD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drivetray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive traypops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CDdisc.
If you continue having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD driveis faulty and needs replacing.

Dell xps demension. When I turn on the power botton fan comes on at a really fast speed but nothing else comes on. Doesn't load anything??

A cool heatsink points to a CPU failure, as the CPU is not processing data. Replacing the CPU at first would eliminate this, however, the CPU is unlikely to fail first unless it had been severely overheated, more likely that the board has developed a fault.

If you are however getting no beeps on start up, this does look like the CPU is the culprit

My dell xps 16 cd drive stopped working...how do i get to it to replace it? i opened the bottom but its apparent that i have to get it from the top.

The way to remove and replace the drives is found on support.dell.com under the documentation- generally you can specify the system with the service tag. However, if the system is w/in warranty- you may want to call Dell so you can avoid breaking your warranty

Disk storage medium stuck in DVD-Rom.

If there is a disc stuck in the drive, removing the drive from the case is not necessary. Just take a paperclip and stick it in the manual release hole in the front of the drive.

MY MONITOR HAS A GREEN SCREEN

What I get from your post is that you have a green screen covering up your desktop, thus preventing you from doing anything on your PC. If this is what it is Spyware sounds like the issue which you can hold "CTL" and hit "F4" to close it and any other screens and I suggest you run this Free Antispyware: http://www.smcus.net/SUPERAntiSpyware.exe
Click the link or copy and paste it in your browser.
