Question about Drills

Hard to lower drill

Difficult to lower drill towards work surface. I have oiled everything that travels downward but it doesn't seem to help. It won't return up without cranking the hand wheel. The travel clamp is free.

How to replace an oil pan gasket on a toyota corrolla 2007?

remove anything in the way of the oil pan that won`t allow it to be lowered. drain the oil, then remove the oil pan holding bolts and you might have to hit the oil pan to get it loose and lower the pan. clean surfaces on the motor and oil pan of gasket material and oil on the gasket matting surfaces install new gasket to pan and install. torque the bolts to 10ft lbs torque I think or until the bolts are tight but the gasket is not being pushed out from between two surfaces.

Steering levers difficult to move

Add hydraulic fluid if it uses hydraulics and change or add oil if needed. grease up any and all grease ports. If the problem continues you might want to have a professional come out and look at it.

Control arm removal

Take the wheel off, secure strut to lower frame with a strong piece of rope, place a jack under the sway bar, jack up slightly, that will hold the strut from lowering anymore via the link from the sway arm to the strut (reason for the rope securing the strut is it will swing out towards you when the lower control arm is removed), saturate all the bolts with a good penatrating oil [Liquid Wrench = Good Stuff] remove the nut from the lower ball joint stud, spray on more penatrating oil where stud goes through spindle, hit the spindle with a good size hammer where the ball joint stud goes through the spindle (always hit what it goes through), give it several hard sharp raps from the sides, then hit downward on the lower control arm with hammer, most of the time the stud will come right out, if not, put nut back on ball joint stud just until the stud is flush with the top of the nut, since you can not hit directly on the top of stud, get a good sized wrench to go across the stud and hit downward on either side of the wrench, holding other end with your other hand, if the ball joint does not come out now, hit the spindle from the sides some more HARD, then hit downward on control arm, if it still does not come loose you will have to get (or rent) a spreader (Pickle Fork) to separate the ball joint from the spindle, then remove the two bolts from the lower frame, slide lower control arm out.

2001 Toyota Camry. Loud rumble on start/warm-up, slightly decreasing after some drive time. Engine seems strained (with louder rumble and vibration) mostly in lower gears, accelerating and/or uphill. No...

Have you checked your oil and fluid levels in the engine and transmisson.
if it's a manual could the clutch be worn out causing the high rpm and thrust bearing noise in the clutch.

Briggs Stratton 625 series 190cc lawn mower: this has been tipped right over and now there seems to be oil in everything and it won't go, what can we do?

If the engine has been tipped oil will come through the engine breather and soak the paper filter, remove the filter, remove the spark plug and clean/replace, with the plug out crank the engine a few times to to evacuate any oil in the cylinder, replace the plug and try again ( with the filter still removed ) when it finally starts it will smoke quite heavily so do this out side and on a non grass surface ( oil sprayed from the muffler will kill the grass) it will smoke for some time until all the excess oil has gone, check the oil level in the engine and top up if required.

I HAVE 1997 FORD TAURUS, AND IT HAD AN OIL LEAK, HOW CAN I TELL IF IT IS THE OIL PAN OR A BLOWN HEAD GASKET?

the head gasket is on the engine higher than the oil pan so if the leak is not were the head meets the cylinder block and running down towards the bottom of the motor then the head gasket is not the problem.if the leak is only around the oil pan area and slightly above it then its probably the oil pan that is leaking.fluid leaks travel backwards or downwards not up.

I want to exhaust a portable A/C out of a 2'w X 6'h, crank open window. Obviously, with no sliding window, the slider system won't apply. So, what are common solutions for venting out crank...

I use a 1" metal strap that is heavy enough to support the unit to the window frame, then I cut plexiglass to fill in the opening. I typically drill small holes to attach the metal strap. Remember that it is very important that the unit slope downwards towards outside for the condensation to run OUT.

I have a Babylock 5260 serger and have changed the blades before but this time when I changed them I can't get them to align correctly. the top blade comes down and hits the bottom blade. I cant figure out...

First make sure that both blades have no burrs on the them from hitting pins. Then set the lower blade so that the cutting surface is flush with the surface of the needle plate. Then adjust the upper blade so that when it comes down to it's lowest position on the downward stroke of the cutter arm, that the cutting edge comes down past the lower blade at least 1MM. That will ensure a full cut of the blades.

How to do the oil change on my Jag? having problems locating the oil and filter part in the car. thanks.

The oil filter is very visible. It is located at the rear
of the engine pointing downward (not sideways) on the
passenger side (North America). The oil drain plug is also
very accessible on the lower right side of the oil pan
pointing toward the right front tire.
If you have trouble finding a replacement filter
buy the one for a Lincoln LS. Same thing. Also use 5W-30
Motor Oil. Good luck.
