Your camera supports an SD card. SD cards have a tiny switch that can be used to write-protect the card.
Make sure that the card memory is not full. If you are certain that the card is locked try to locate the tiny switch and move it to the 'unlock' position.
The following diagrams may assist you in finding the location of the switch:

Card Switch in Downward "Locked" Position (note the arrow by the word "Lock")

If you have tried this, and it is still showing locked, it is likely that the locking switch inside the camera's card slot is stuck. If you look inside the slot on the side of the slot where the SD card slide switch would be, you will see a glint of gold color on the side. This is the camera's lock/unlock switch. The other glints of gold that you may see at the far end of the slot are the reader's connectors (ignore those).

Somehow, the locking switch is making contact and has become stuck in the locked position (a single grain of sand can jam it there). With a plastic toothpick, or other skinny NON-METALLIC item, tap and gently push against this switch to see if you can jar open the contact to its normal unlocked position. Also try blowing compressed air at it, to clear out any gunk that may have worked its way in there, jamming it closed. Occasionally, reinsert the SD card to see if the issue has been corrected.

If repeated tries fail, it may be time to consider opening the camera to force open this switch (not recommended unless you have some familiarity with electronics).

Saying card protect and won't let me record

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Write protected card

Look carefully at the SD card. On one side you will find a "lock" switch. The card in question has this switch in the lock position. You can not delete an existing video because the delete function actually requires the ability to update the card which is a writing function. Flip the switch and your problem should be resolved.

Need help working my camcorder/camera

In order to record, the camera needs to have a memory card installed. This particular camera needs an SD format card. If the camera does not have a card installed, the card is not properly formatted, or the card is full, you will not be able to record. Also, these cards have a write protect lock tab. Make sure that the tab is not in the lock position. The card should be formatted FAT32. If you can read the card on your computer, make sure it is not full and that the card is formatted FAT32. If you have another camcorder or camera that uses SD cards, you might want to try formatting the card, just to be sure.

My camera says card protected and won't record.

There is a tiny switch on the left side of the card. One setting is to lock it....the opposite way is to open it for taking pics. It's a safety so you can't accidentallybigdtexan_1.jpg delete any pictures, but also won't let you take any more. (see pic)

I have a video recording on my lexar multi use 4 gb sdhc card when i upload my pictures it loads them but is not loading the video recordings. My camera is panasonic DMC-TZ10! Please help!

1. Are you trying to upload to a program that only works with photos? 2. Are the videos shot in AVCHD lite? Most programs can't open it. Only works with PHOTOfunSTUDIO on a PC computer....won't work at all on a Mac.

I have a Memory card in my camera that allows me to save still pictures to it, however, when I try to record video to the memory card it gives me the little yellow triangle and the "in Card...

I'm going to say the memory card first if you have used it before to record video then the card is corrupted and needs formatting to the camera it is being used in. Download your still pictures first then format the memory card. If this is a new card again down load pictures and format the card in the camera. The last possibility is the memory card write speed is slower then the video so no it can't write to it. Sounds confusing but really if the card was working in the camera then doesn't now then it needs to have the memory card formatted.

Memory card locked

I noticed that this camera does not work well with cheaper memory cards. The only brand that works without fail is the SanDisk brand.
