Yes it fits, but function, no, the electronics in the lens are not compatible with Canon digitals

Does Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens fit canon eos rebel

Sigma makes their lenses with a variety of camera mounts. If you get the lens with a Canon mount then yes, it will fit any EOS Rebel camera body. A lens with a Pentax mount, for example, will not fit a Canon camera.

Is it possible to convert a sigma lens to fit a canon body or by using an m42 adapter?

Sigma makes their lenses with a variety of mounts. If the lens has a Canon or M42 mount then there is no problem. If it has a Minolta mount, for example, then replacing the lens will be easier and just as cheap as changing the mount. If it has Nikon mount, you can buy adapters to fit it to Canon or M42 bodies.

I have a Sigma 70-300 mm lens 1:4-5.6 DL. it works on my EOS 450D does it also work on an EOS 500D hoping for a reaction

Hi

Here's Sigma's Webpage. You should call them at 1-800-896-6858 to verify this lens will work, as I can not find a listing for the "DL" lens you have.

My initial response is that if it fits the 450D, it is a Canon mount and should work about the same on the 500D assuming both cameras have the same size sensors.

Again, a free call to the manufacturer is going to provide the best possible information on compatibility issues between this lens and various Canon camera bodies.

Good luck!

Will a sigma 70-300mm macro lens fit all canon eos cameras

It will physically fit all of them, but depending upon the exact version and when it was made it may not communicate with all EOS bodies.

The Sigma website can advise you in that regards, and will give details as to how some Sigma models can be sent in for modification to update the compatibility.

Will a SIGMA 70-300 f4 DL MACRO LENS fit on a CANON EOS 20D?

Assuming you get the lens with a Canon mount, yes. Sigma makes lenses to fit a variety of makes, but each one has a different mount. A lens intended for a Nikon, for example, will not fit a Canon.

Will a Sigma DL Macro Super 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 Lens fit my Nikon D80?

All after market lenses are specifically designed for a brand of camera. They are for Nikon, Cannon, Minolta etc.. They can not be cross branded just as you could not use a Nikon made lens on a Pentax.

Where can i buy a Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DL Macro AF Lens mount adapter for a canonEOS 500D

You can't, not as far as I know.

Getting functionally useful adaptors from any other brand to Canon EOS is difficult as the register distance from the sensor to the lens is the deepest of all current lens mounts. Adaptors therefore require expensive optical correction in order to preserve infinity focus ability and given that the adapted lens will still be substantially crippled most owners aren't prepared to pay for such an adaptor. In any case, the additional optical elements will reduce optical quality.

Due to similar electronics, it is possible to physically convert a Sigma mount lens to EOS by fitting an EOS lens bayonet but it's a skilled job requiring fabrication skills and even then there's no guarantee that the lens will communicate correctly with all EOS bodies. In practice, due to the scarcity of Sigma mount lenses the conversion is usually the other way around.
