My browser will not connect to the internet

Do you have any other internet enabled applications that are connecting properly? If you do have other internet enabled apps and they too are having problems than I would suggest trouble shooting your network connections.

If you are running Windows XP go "Control Panel" and under "PIck a Category" select "Network and Internet Connections". Next select "Network Connections". Right click your network connection and select "Repair". Windows will attempt to repair your network drivers, settings, and reestablish your network connection. If unsuccessful it will attempt provide an error message describing the problem.

If you don't see that option start checking connections along your network cable wiring. A plug may have come out or a cable damaged.

If it is not your network connection or your wiring it is your browser software. Reset your browser back to default settings to repair any changes made by accident by yourself or perhaps a website attempting a browser hijack:

Reset Internet Explorer to the default settings To reset Internet Explorer to the default settings
  1. Close any Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer windows that are currently open.
  2. Open Internet Explorer.
  3. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
  4. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
  5. Select the Delete personal settings check box if you would like to remove browsing history, search providers, Accelerators, home pages, and InPrivate Filtering data.
  6. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
  7. When Internet Explorer finishes restoring the settings, click Close, and then click OK.
  8. Close Internet Explorer. Your changes will take effect the next time you open Internet Explorer.
Hope this helped.

I"m assuming you're using Internet Explorer. On the menu bar go to "View" then go to "Text Size" and choose the size of text you want on your web pages.

Once signing on to AOL, I cannot stay connected for very long. I continually get kicked off; time and time again.

You are having a problem with AOL's connectivity program. I have had nummerous issues with AOL's software and they do not seem to be too concerned about the few people that use it but are having issues with it. Just don't go hog wild and start messing with your router settings or your network. It is an AOL problem and not your computer. If you are having no problems just running Internet Explorer and are not getting kicked off then your answer lies with them. It got so bad for me, I use IE8 and access my AOL account off the internet browser. I've had AOL work in some computers and I have been unable to get it to work in others....there is always 100 different answers as to why but AOL is unable to take the blame and would rather pass it on to your network settings. The only thing I have been able to suggest that has worked is completely and thoroughly uninstall everything aol, and reinstall the software. Now, when I say completely uninstall, I mean download a program called "Revo Uninstaller", it is free from Just put the name in their search box and it will bring it up. run that program and choose option (4) when you want to unistall something. Make sure though if the program asks if you want to reboot, you answer no. You will reboot after you get rid of everything. Just answer yes to everything the program asks.

Internet explorer cannot be found...

Check if you maybe have some IP and DNS settings to your WL network adapter:

Control panel
Network connections
Right to your WL adapter and click Properties
On the end of the list in the middle you'll find:
Internet protocol (TCP/IP)

Double-click it and set IP and DNS to Automatically. . . .
(OK, and than, again OK).

Check Internet Explorer settings:
Control panel
Internet Options
Click on Security Tab
Set ALL zones to DEFAULT
Click Apply and OK

They might have changed the internet security settings on you.
In Internet Explorer go to "Tools", Internet options then the Security tab. You can adjust the settings from there.
