Change light in whirlpool gold accubake system upper microwave oven

If you need to replace the bulb for the interior cabinet, you'll need to remove the two screws that holds the upper grille in place with a Philips screwdriver.

Access to these screws are from on top of the microwave.

Once you remove the grille, you should see a white plastic cover with a release tab; pop the open and you'll have access to the bulb compartment:

Watch the following youtube video- the instruction phase of removing the grille and access to the bulb compartment starts at 2:40

How to change light bulb in microwave?

Found this post on another fixya-type site: below is the link..
Here's a repeat of Kai's instructions so you don't have to scroll down. I just replaced mine and it was a snap. Just a few Phillips screws and a few tugs. No need to pull the unit completely out as you can access the bulb after it's about half way. No need to disconnect any wiring harness except pulling the bulb out of its socket. I used the 10w (G4 12V) replacement bulb from Home Depot at $6. The light is a bit brighter but there've been no problems with fuses.

1) Turn off power to the unit
2) Open the lower oven door
3) Remove the side trim screws and pull the trims down and out.
4) Remove 2 screws on the sides of the control panel.
5) Open the Microwave door. Remove the 3 screws on the Air Vent Plastic Cover on top of the microwave. You can then remove the Air Vent Cover by pushing the control panel up and pull out slightly at the bottom.
6) Remove the 4 screws on the Air Vent Plastic Cover on top of the lower oven and remove the Air Vent Cover. (You may have to remove the left under side bracket of the Microwave door temporarily just for the Air Vent Cover to clear the screw of the bracket. Re-secure the side bracket of the Microwave door panel as the front panel may fall)
7) Remove the 2 screws which held the Microwave unit in place behind the Air Vent Cover on step 6.
8) Wiggle the Microwave unit out about half way to expose the light bulb unit on top center
9) Wiring to the Control Panel will prevent you from pulling the Microwave unit out any further. And you don't want to do that as the unit may fall. Space is cramped, but working carefully with pliers you should be able to release the springs which held down the light bulb unit and change the bulb.

How do i replace the cooktop light bulb in my microwave oven?

I realized the light bulb was fixed using an adhesive (maybe a glue stick) that is why, I had a hard time removing the old bulb. After forcing it (and breaking the adhesive seal) I was able to replace it with a new one.

Need to replace light bulb in kitchen aid microwave

KitchenAid wants $58 for the replacement bulb. I bought it for $1.99 from and it works just fine. The Item number is Q5G412V. It is a halogen 5-watt, 12-volt bipen G-4. Replacing the bulb requires some dismantling of the microwave. At first I was nervous about removing so many parts to get to the bulb but in the end it really wasn't so bad. The only tool I needed was a Phillips screwdriver. I surfed the net a eventually found instructions left by a friendly Blogger that guided me through the whole process. KitchenAid engineers were so STUPID when they designed this microwave. It takes two hours to replace a bulb that should take 5 minutes. Oddly enough, replacing the bulb in the normal oven below the microwave oven is a piece of cake.

Jenn-air microwave light bulb

This is an older (Mfgr. May, 1987) microwave oven. Functions perfectly, works an looks good to this day, just no light inside. I searched a couple of websites looking for parts for this unit and provided schematics of the product that I own. From those drawings, it was determined that the microwave oven will have to be slid out of the cabinet above the built-in oven in order to change a $2.37, 40W light bulb. Just a handfull of scrws retaining the oven and exhaust baffles and I'll get it out (onmce the New Year's Eve hangover disappears). The engineer who designed a system like this must have been on an Acid Trip. I haven't looked closely at newer microwave ovens, but I'd have to believe changing a crummy light bulb would have to be made easier than this during the preliminary engineering phase of design.

Burnt out light bulb in microwave

well it is an absolute nightmare changing the light bulb in the microwave. you have to basically remove the microwave from the rest of the appliance to get to the light after remove panels and other parts. if you intend on doing this take your time. best solution is to have a repair do it that way if it doesn't work he/she is liable not you. best of luck
