My son has a noisy condenser fan on the carrier condensing unit, model is a BRC060360 and Im puzzled on this unit seer rating, any ideas? Also looking for a budget condenser fan for it?

Condenser fans are usually not very expensive, so I suggest you go to a carrier dealer and buy one as a spare part. Have you check that the fan is clean and none of the blades are damaged.

How to replace condenser fan blower wheel and where can i get one ?

Hello, in order to replace the condenser fan you will need to remove the motor aseembly and use a hub puller to remove the fan blade. When removing the fan blade spraynsome wd- 40 on the motor shaft and then attach the hub puller to remove the fan blade. You csn buy the fan blade at any heating and cooling store.

Kenmore window unit 17,500 BTU turn on and blows great cold air for 5 min then just fan running after that with no cold air.

Sorry to hear of your problem.

This is a common issue, and have just experience the same in my home. I am also an HVACR service tech, and will outline the most common problem that causes this.

If it blows cold air, your compressor is working fine. For a certain reason your compressor is turning off.

The compressor needs constant cooling of the motor and its windings. The compressor is also equipped with an overload switch (this turns the compressor off when temperatures inside get too hot). This is probably what is happening in your case.

The condenser coil (the outside coil that is silver with all the vertical fins) is where heat is rejected. A fan blows air over the condenser to help remove this heat. The condenser needs to be clean at all times.

First thing - check the condenser for dirt/leaves/cottonwood. If it is dirty, use compressed air, or water to clean the coil, being very careful not to damage or bend the fins, this will impeded operation and cause you to lose cooling capacity. Clean in a vertical motion with the fins.

If you find the condenser coil is clean, check the condenser fan motor (the blades are usually made of plastic) for broken or damaged blades, and then look into the unit to see if the condenser fan motor runs if in fact the blade is intact.

I believe if you follow these steps you are either going to find a dirty condenser, or a bad motor/fan blade.

The only other reason could be a low refrigerant charge not allowing the unit to cool properly, but this can only be verified with refrigeration gauges and a trained service technician, unless you can visually verify oil spotting in the unit, indicating the presence of a leak.

Sometimes get a loud screeching noise from the condenser fan motor. Also seems to be loudr than usual. Motor part no. is:S070. Can a "do it yourself" guy replace the unit?

If this is wall/window unit, you can do it but it can be tricky. the fan in window units usually has 2
shafts on either side , it drives fan for both the condenser and evaporator. You basically have to pull the top off, loosen set screw on both blades, remove some screws to move back condenser coil(gently, don't kink tubing) similar process on evap side. Then mount new fan motor, wire it in put fan blades back on in proper position, reassemble unit, test run on bench.

When the motor starts their is a rattle noise..When I looked in the back I noticed the fan blade had some play in it could that be the problem..

The shaft of the condenser fan motor will have some play in it, meaing if you are looking at it from the side, along the plane of the fan rotation, it will float to and from the motor itself, or left and right as you look at it from the side. You can isolate the noise by unplugging the refrigerator no less than 5 minutes, a minimum of 5 minutes and for at least 5 minutes. Before you plug the appliance back into the outlet, grab and hold onto the condenser fan blade, it will only be for a few seconds, and the motor is not strong enough that the blade will be ripped out of your hands. If you prefer, you can hold the blades in place by holding a screwdriver in between the blades instead. Plug the unit in, and if you still hear this rattle noise, its the compressor, not the fan motor. If you dont hear the noise, remove the screwdriver between the blades, and listen for the refrigerator noise as the fan motor starts up. If it made the noise then check for any obstructions to the fan blades, check that the three screws that secure the motor are tight, if they are loose, the fan will bounce. if they are tight, you probably have a bad condenser fan motor

I have an Aloha Industries ceiling fan and one of the blades broke on it! How can I get just one blade?

Unfortunately you can't buy one blade. Blades are made in sets and have to be balanced within a few grams of each other. If you can find the supplier for this brand there is a small chance you may be able to buy a new set of blades but you will need to know the model as well. Blades aren't interchangeable between brands or models.

Most likely you will need to buy a whole new fan.

    Amana AP148D-RB, Air Conditioner Parts

Not sure if you have fixed yet, but I had the same problem on my AP148D. There are 2 fans, 1 for the condenser (base of unit) and 1 for the evaporator (top of unit). My condenser fan disintigrated. Go to his web site and you will find a parts list for this model, and a distributer list http://service.haieramerica.com/Models.aspx?CID=231

Call this number and they have the parts in stock : 800-313-8495, mine shipped overnight. The parts are :

    AC-8000-27 Wheel-blower condenser $21.81

    AC-8000-26 Wheel-blower evaporator $21.81

I suspect you will need the first part. Hope this helps. Be careful to note where all the screws come from when dismantling !!!!

    Condenser fan mounting

Most condenser fan turn ccw looking down into the unit and should be mounted about 1" from motor. A good check is that the air is moving up and out and drawing through the condenser. Thanks
