Question about Uniden DECT 6.0 Cordless Telephone Expansion Handset

2 Answers

Can not get a dial tone. I can pull my messages off by using another phone, so I know the incoming calls go to my voice message. I do not receive the ring on incoming calls on any of my phones. I have disconnected all phones from wall, waited 5 minutes but hasn't helped. I have contacted AT&T, they tell me it is my phone.

Take a known good phone to your DeMark (where the telephone line enters your house or apartment) and test the line. (instructions in the front of your telephone book) If you have dial tone there ... take your known good telephone to the first telephone outlet ... Dial tone there? Yes - try your wireless ... does it work? Yes - problem solved. No - problem with your phone. Troublehoot via your menu button or visit manufacturers web site.

Continue to test the rest of your telephone outlets with a known good telephone.

My guess is you have a faulty RJ-11 cord and/or there is a setting in the phone that is not correct, for example, are you using a 1 or 2 line device? Is it set properly? Does your RJ-11 have the dial tone on the proper pair (of wires) going to your handset?

Many RJ-11 equipped cords are 4 wire and will hook up to almost any telephone. Some RJ-11 equipped wires have only 2 conductors ...

Two is fine but they must be the correct two in the phone outlet box.

(RJ-11 is the little plug on the end of a telephone cable)

I hope this helps you ...

What does a boken dialling tone on my phone mean? It is all working fine and there are no warning messages on the display.

Usually broken dial tone means the line has call-forward set. You get broken tone for 3 or 4 seconds, then goes back to normal. Are you receiving incoming calls normally? It's common to set or cancel 'cause the code might kinda match a number you use. And it may be forwarded to nowhere, example, you dial 729-1111, but press 72#-1111. You might be forwarded to 1111, the code being 72#. The 1111 goes nowhere, someone calls you, calls gets forwarded, then they get a message"that number does not exist". If that's the code for your area, then 73# might be the cancel code. Check the front of the original phone book, or Google codes for your service provider.

When using phone I cannot call out , it gives me a fast dial tone , but I can get incoming calls

Does the fast dial tone persist, or do you get a regular dial tone after a couple of seconds? If the latter, then you have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

I have 2 problems. 1. The orange message light will not stop flashing no matter what I do. 2. Some how the system was switched from touch tone to dial tone. I can't seem to that switched either.

Resetting the voice message waiting indicator
When you receive a new voice mail message, the new message LED on the top of the handset flashes. In the event your message waiting light gets out of sync with your phone company's
voice messaging system, you can manually reset it back to the "No messages waiting" state.
1. Press and hold FiND on the base for five seconds.
Note: The handsets connected to the base will start to beep, however, keep pressing for five seconds.
2. A beep sounds and the message alert tone is reset.
Changing the dial mode
Your phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most base networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing. If your phone company uses pulse dialing, you will need to change your phone's dial mode. If you don't get a dial tone or can't connect to the telephone network, please follow the steps below to modify your phone's settings:
1. Press MENU/SELECT.
2. Select the Global Setup menu, and then the Dial Mode submenu.
3. Scroll to highlight Pulse.
4. Press MENU/SELECT. You will hear a confirmation tone.
If you ever need to change the dial mode back to tone dialing, follow the same procedure, but select Tone in step 3.

Finally for future ease of use, here is a link to the user manual were I copied the above information from:

When i receive a text message my nokia E72 doesnt ring, what could be the problem?

Does the phone ring when you receive an incoming call? If so, press Menu go to Control Panel (or might be the profile is shown in the menu) after control panel, Profile then Options and then Personalize, then, scroll down and again select Message Alert Tone, set the Tone for the message. Also make sure that the volume is turned up. Save the settings and try again. If this doesn't help and you don't hear any ring tone during an incoming call, let me know after checking the sound settings.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I need to retrieve my home phone messages from cell phone

Activating Call Forwarding

You can activate Call Forwarding whenever you want your calls to be sent to another phone, including a mobile phone. Once activated, all your calls will be sent to the forwarding number you request. Each time a call is forwarded, you will hear one short reminder tone on your home phone, but you will not be able to answer the call from your home number.

1. Lift your telephone's receiver and listen for a dial tone.

2. Press *7 2.
In some areas you must use 72#
Dial 1172 on rotary or pulse-dialing phones.

3. At the tone, dial the telephone number where you want your calls transferred.
You will hear the number you entered ring. When the number is answered, Call Forwarding is activated.

4. If the call is not answered or the line is busy, hang up and call the number again within two minutes.
You will hear two short tones telling you that Call Forwarding is activated.

5. Hang up the receiver.

Deactivating Call Forwarding

Turn Call Forwarding off when you want to receive calls on your home phone.

1. Lift your telephone's receiver and listen for a dial tone.

2. Press * 73.
In some areas you must use 73#
Dial 1173 on rotary or pulse-dialing phones.

3. Listen for two short tones.
Call Forwarding is now off and you will receive your calls at your home number.
