The red indicator indicates that the amp is inoperable, check the power to the amp and make sure it is at least 12 volts, check the ground connections for excessive resistance, no more than 3 ohms, disconnect the speaker from the amplifier and see if the red light goes out, if so check speaker wiring for shorts to ground, if the red light comes on only when the speaker is connected and the wiring checks out then the voice coil of the speaker may be shorted, if all the tests above prove ok then the Amp is defective and as a shorted output circuit, contact this web link for more help getting the amp fixed or replaced

Need to connect a jet sound graphic equalizer JS-234 to a car stereo. The wires had folded stickers and some a gone. The colors of wires are red, black, gray, green.Only have 2 front speakers .

If it's only 4 wires, Red & black are typically power. red +12volts & black is ground. Gray would be one channel say right side and green would be left (example) you would ground the negative speaker lead on both sides. That is probably an old unit and make sure your car is negative ground. Some Ford & Nissan are positive grounded for some circuits which you may need to reverse the power connections. Make sure there is an in line fuse on the power wire just in case.

MY PUNCH IS IN THE TRUNK OF G35 INFINITI WHEN I TURN CAR OFF THE AMP IS STILL RUNNING AND DRAINING MY BATTERY I SEE A RED LIGHT ON THE AMP WHILE POWER IS OFF IN CAR

Most amps have a remote on terminal, which takes a small current wire to "turn on" the amp, and when you stop current to that terminal, it turns off the amp. It sounds like this current is still live when you turn the car off, so your amp doesn't know to turn off.

With the car off, test the lead at the remote on terminal (usually blue wire, as I do it) with a dc meter or test probe. If it reads +12v, it shouldn't. Find a new "remote on" power lead. This is generally provided by the "power antenna on" lead out of the deck. Run a wire to the amp from the power antenna on lead, and retest.

I'll bet on success after this.

Conecting my equalizer to amp'

What kind of EQ?

Typically you would place an EQ or any processor in a Tape Loop:

Tape Rec/Out to EQ In; EQ Out to Tape Play/In on the amp. Select Tape Monitor on the amp to place the EQ in-line with whatever source you're playing. Use it's ability to modify the sound sparingly.

Absence of sound

If you have another amp in the vehicle, swap the RCAs and speakers to see if you get sound through the other amp.

Generally, if the red light is on and there is no significant DC on the speaker terminals, the amp is in good working order (for the older Rockford amps).
