Question about Viking Ovens

2 Answers

Hi, I have a 4 burner, griddle and grill 48" Viking range (VGCC548-4GQ). We just purchased it used, installed it, and are having issues. The oven lights and the igniters don't work. However, power is getting to the unit because the convection oven fan runs when activated. Any ideas where to begin trouble shooting this? I'm hopeful there's maybe a cable that has come lose or a fuse to inspect. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi - I have a 48" Viking gas range (4 burners, 2 ovens, 1 griddle and grill). We bought it used and installed it, but the ignitors and the oven lights don't work. We know the unit is getting power because the convection oven fan works. Do you know of any fuses, connectors, or boards that might be suspect? Or other ideas for things to check?

Open it , and go on the power cord from the source to the spark unit.....use a power checker or ..a volt meter unit ..and see if it has power all the way .. if it does..it might be the spark unit that is have the issues..aniway going by the power line will take you to the point where the cable is ussued or something wont work ...check the starter too keep it pressed and see if the power goes over his location

Griddle top replacement

well this is different, but sounds like fun. I would just Repair the gas griddle you have. from the sound of it you need to replace the 3 or 4 tstats that control the griddle. If you are in a Metro area you can find a dealer for Robert Shaw and get the parts you need. but you may also start at http://www.garland-group.com/. everything there will be newer but you will be able ask about where the data plate is and then get parts lists. call a small comercial kitchen repair company and ask for help there too.

My Viking oven will not lite, the igniter glows, but it will not lite. I have to turn on the 4 stove top burners and then it will lite. Also, when the oven reaches temperature and the therastat shuts it...

Hi,
That sounds like you have too high of gas pressure which keeps the oven gas valve from opening...turning on the burners lowers the gas pressure enough to allow the gas valve to open. this is a saftey feature on many gas valves.
To stop that you will need to install a gas pressure regulator which will hold back the gas pressure so the valve can open.

Here is a tip that I wrote about regulators and them failing on the low side, but it will give you and idea what I am talking about and what you need to install in the line to your range.

I had the same problem with the single oven, It the voltage feeding the oven, it like to be 120 or above if it drops below 120 then this problem occurs. I had ever thing checked, gas pressure, and the oven. Electrician installed a voltage regulator on that circuit.

Viking electric range

There is another fuse or circuit breaker inside the range. House fuse is at least 50 amps which would be way too large for 110 volt things. Your instructions will tell you where it is. Frigidaire used to hide it under one of the burners. I don't know where it is on a Viking.
