My InFocus LP70 secondhand, refurbished. it has been working for over four years. This is the second time i am having this problem with it.When I push the power button, the LED lights green, the fans go but the lamp won't light. The unit then cycles from solid green LED to blinking green LED every 15-20 seconds. There is a clicking noise like a relay switch when it goes from blinking green to solid green and vice versa.
The colorwheel needs replacing. if the colorwheel won't spin, the lamp won't light. if you hear a high-pitched whir, the colorwheel works, which means there is a power supply issue. there is a fix for that, but you have to be good at soldering. if you are give it a try: http://www.infocus.com/service/asc/communications/tech_notes/2006/09/tn495g.pdf

I think it is the time to remove the cover and check for air filters blocked with dust.
When this happens, air doesn't flow freely through the projector and result in overheating, which leads to automatic shutdown.
Go here: https://portal.infocus.com/support/Product%20Pages/downloads.aspx?mic=LP70%2b&on=downloadsthen down load the file then find the text document "D3 D3+ firmware upgrade instructions.pdf" in C:\LP70plus\002-0870-08\I , or where ever you saved it. That will give you the complete instructions on how to upgrade.
if you hear a high-pitched whir, the problem is either the ballast or the lamp. if you don't, it's the colorwheel. you could try to get the parts from an infocus service center or send it in to them for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com
if you don't hear a high-pitched whir, your colorwheel needs replacing. you can remove the lamp and see the colorwheel inside (colored glass wheel). if you turn it on without the lamp, the colorwheel should still spin. if it does, you have a ballast problem. if not, the colorwheel. you'd still need to send it in to an infocus authorized service center. try av solutions in ny. they're pretty good.
try resetting the settings to factory default through the menu. if there's still a problem, take the cover off. if you look from the back of the machine, inside on the bottom left, you'll see the main board attached by a large white plug. use something thin and non-metalic to push the bottom of the board towards the plug to tighten it. now do the same to the other side of the plug. this should solve it. if it doesn't, you need to replace the main board.
if the fans aren't running, it's the power supply. if the amber is on and the button's won't turn it on, there is an obstruction under the button panel. if all turns on but the lamp and you don't hear a high=pitched whir, it's the colorwheel. if you do, it's the ballast.
