You have two problems first
the eject. If it will not eject with the button
then the ribbon cable got pulled out.

Second the laser has a anti static solder dot
if you did not remove it the laser will not operate

Also check the spindle motor , if it seems
stiff and does not turn freely it may need to
be lubed up to spin free again.

If you have any questions just comment and ill respond

Might sound daft but have you connected the cable properly from the logic board to the laser. i once forgot to connect this and it did the exact same thing.

the laser might be dead too which can cause the same fault.

there has been a LOT of lasers about at the minute which are dodgy so i would check all the cables and if it does not work after that contact your supplier.

i would also take a reading of the 'pots' and adjust them to 282 - search the net for a guide on how to do this.

Xbox 360 - Stuck or sticking tray fix!

If your Xbox 360 DVD drive won’t eject it can be a very simple fix.

The Samsung drive is almost always a very simple fix, if you have another drive, it may be more difficult.

To identify your drive, follow this guide:

• Remove the faceplate by firmly grasping the opening for the USB ports and pulling.
• Underneath the DVD tray there should be a small hole.
• Look at the wires in the hole to identify which drive type you have.

Red and Black Wires = Samsung Drive
Yellow Wires = LiteOn Drive
White Wires = BenQ Drive
No Wires = Hitachi Drive

SAMSUNG:

It is very common for a Samsung drive to not eject. It’s a very simple fix for this!

1. Power on your Xbox 360
2. Press the eject button
3. When the Xbox 360 “tries” to eject, just simply push in on the tray cover.

That should make it eject!

If it does not, please follow the guide for the other drives below:

This requires you to disassemble your Xbox 360. IF you don’t know how, look it up on google, there are plenty of guides.

Then follow these steps:

1. Remove your Xbox 360 DVD drive from the Xbox 360
2. Turn over and remove the four screws securing the drive (6 screws if it’s a Hitachi)
3. Remove the top cover of the DVD drive.
4. Put the drive back in the Xbox 360, connect the wires, and power on your Xbox 360.
5. Once the 360 powers on, eject the drive. Most of the time it should eject normally. If it doesn’t you may have to force it.
6. Unplug the Xbox 360. If you turn it off with the power button the tray will close first, we need it open.
7. Near the front of the drive, you should now be able to see and access a small rubber band that was hidden by the tray.
8. Remove the band, lubricate and replace.
9. Replace the top cover and hook up and test.
10. If that doesn’t work, you may need a new rubber band. If you can get one of the right size, replace and test.

My games wont play and it says open tray

You have dirty laser or bad laser or dirty disc drive period. Try cleaning laser with qtip. If that doesnt work keep the disc drive apart and hook it up to the 360 make sure not to let your disc drive ground out anywhere on the 360. Hit eject button and close tray seeing if the laser even goes up with the tray. If it doesnt try greasing the rails and gears in there where everything slides.

The disk drive in my xbox 360 wont play games

Buy a new laser specifically for the brand of dvd drive, like phillips, hitachi, ect... only, the laser, if you purchase the whole dvd drive, then you have to flash it and all...too complicated. just the laser assembly and reinstall and enjoy.

Xbox 360 will not load games or any other disc

This is more than likely your laser that is dead and its possibly a Samsung or Hitachi drive, be careful when
buying a new laser because there is a lot of dodgy ones around at the minute which can damage your machine or
at the very least will be inferior and not last long.

if your 360 reads DVD's but not games it may be repairable but if it wont read anything then your better off replacing the laser. strip down the console and strip the DVD drive, take out the laser and look underneath it, it will have a code such as HD57 or something else, note that down. Visit ebay and search for the laser with the same code, buy it, fit it in and make sure you de-solder the static blob of solder before using it (search the net about this or ask the seller) and then try your machine again :)

Not reading disc

Bad Cdrom/dvd
The laser going bad is a pretty common issue with the drives, since it's a Hitachi that spindle motor could be all gunked up with dirt as well and cause that issue also.
if ya have a Hitachi, if it's a Samsung it could just be the laser.
