Hi,
The screen on the DVD player is all "scattered". Usually, when you start the unit you get a blue screen with the letters "DVD" embossed on the blue background. This is all scattered. Inserting a dvd and hitting "play" does play the dvd, but again, it is all scattered.
It would seem that the screen is OK because there is an image there (albeit, all scattered). So is the problem with the software? Hardware?
I don't want to ship it off to Citizen's repair centre in Ontario if they are going to charge half as much money for a replacement just to look at it.
I'm ready to buy a new one but hate adding yet another piece of electronics to the landfill.
Any ideas?

you may have tried this are the scarts fully connected to the dvd / tv as if they become loose they can cause loss of picture.

AFTRON PLAYER PROBABLY USED CHEAP LASER AND NOW HAS GOTTEN WEAK AND GONE BAD. I THINK THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

I have a K715 that was having the same problem. The "line select" had been switched from "in" instead of "out". Once I switched it back to "out", the player worked normal.

Likely to be a classic laser failure. It will require technical person to replace it - try starting with the point of sale and see about warranty etc
