Could be a seal in the gear drive box or a bearing.

Hoover 700lc is putting grease on clothes

The only part of the washer that has oil or grease is the transmission. This is a very bad sign because it says the transmission is leaking and the center seal is also letting the oil grease come through. I would start looking at new machines because it wont be cost effective to repair if you pay a service comapny and if you've never done one its not something you want tot learn on.

HOW DO I REMOVE THE AGITATOR TO FIX THE PROBLEM OF GREASE /TRANSMISSION FLUID GETTING ON THE CLOTHING DURING THE WASH. IS THAT THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM?

The top blunt end of the agitator is threaded and when removed allows to agitator to come off. Lots of lint and old soap accumulate there and can pretty much "glue" the agitator in place. Once gone, you will see the drive shaft from the gearbox sticking up. I think you need to pull the gearbox to get to the seal. The gearbox is filled with nasty surpy "blackjack" grease and can be reused. You might get the repair kit from the manufacturer. That will include all the seals and "O" rings needed to keep the tub from leaking and the grease inside the gearbox.

Kenmore washing machine - 7 years old - is leaking grease under the front right side of it. What could be the cause of this?

The only part that has gease is the gearcase. It is a sealed system and you can not fix it,you need a new gearcase. You should just replace the entire washer. Sorry

GE WSXH208FWW washer leaving spots on clothes

If you are getting round dark spots on your clothes after washing, the problem would be cause by a bearing seal leak. What happens is water leaks pass the seal into the bearings, and the grease leaks back into the wash water. To fix it would require the machine to be literally taken completely apart to get to the bearings. Very costly to repair. Sorry.

The washing machine leaked out transmission oil when it was tipped. Now it is sqeuking.

If it leaked oil or grease out for any reason, this is a serious problem and it's time for this machine to be replaced. It has grease in the transmission that is sealed with no way to leak unless it is worn out. If it leaked then this grease will get inside the drum and your clothing will be contaminated.

Grease on my freshly washed cloths

This sounds like a seal problem in the base of the agitator. This seal is what keeps the water inside the machine and the grease out of the wash basin. It is not something that should be attempted to repair if you are not mechanically inclined.

To get the grease out of your clothes, use an engine de-greaser which can be bought from any automotive parts store. You just spray the de-greaser on the area where the grease is located and rub it in by hand. You will need to use lots of soap to remove the de-greaser from your clothes, and might have to wash the item twice, to get rid of the de-greaser smell from the clothes.

Note, the de-greaser will break down all oil stains and grease stains, and is an oil by-product. This has worked for me on many occasions, but I have only used it on denim jeans and cotton shirts, with excellent results.

Grease Leak

Unfortunately not. In addition to replqacing the blet, the transmission must be replaced. It is the only item in your washing machine that contains gear oil. It's a tough job for the do-it-yourselfer...If I can help further, I am here.

Brown marks on white clothes

Hi yoginiji,
The black mould might have something to do with the marks - I think it builds up if you only ever use low-temperature programmes. I believe that running the machine on a hot wash cycle - perhaps with some proprietory cleaner (but with no clothes in it) might help to get rid of it. I would suggest first removing as much as possible by hand.
Another, more serious possibility is that the drum bearing seals are leaking grease into the wash tub. If nothing is done the bearings will fail and result in a nasty repair bill. If your machine is under warranty, now is the time to contact the repair people.

Does this help? If not please give any more details you have and I'll try to think of something else :-)
