Question about Hitachi 60DX10B 60" Rear Projection Television
When your son bumped into the tv he probably aggravated a common fault with these televisions. The convergence ic's have a tendency to break loose and cause distortion on one of the crt's in your case it was the red crt.
Don't blame him he just exposed the problem that was learking. The repair can be an easy one if the tech just solders the bad connection this may fix the problem and the tech is done. But the tech may have to replace the stk392 ic's there are two of them. If he needs to do this he may need to do a re-convergence of the tv to remove the problem. The labor to re-converge the tv will be the bulk of your expense. This repair typically costs around 300 to repair. Any tv tech worth his salt can perform this repair it is a fairly common problem.

Sorry this is the best I could do for you. It sounds like one of your CRT tubes could be damaged, not seated properly, or off alignment. It's hard to say with these projection TV's without being there. It's looks like your going to have to call a tech.

Try calling them and see what they can do for you. Is the TV still under warranty. There is so much that can go wrong with these units I recommend getting an extended warranty. Let me know if I can help you out with anything else.
