These are a pain to do. You have to put the belt around the drum and at the motor, there is a pulley on a spring device.Twist the pulley toward the motor, until you can get the belt onto the motor pulley. Release the spring loaded pulley and it will automatically tighten the belt.

Replacing the drive belt on a hotpoint tdc30p and need a diagram of how the belt goes round the drive and pulley system

wrap the belt around the drum first then the slack at the bottom wraps around the motor shaft. Then it has to go either left or right side of the tensioner wheel, but the flat side must touch the tensioner wheel(not the ribbed side of the belt). You know you got it right when when there is tension on the belt when it is correctly installed. I dont have diagram so this is the most simplistic way of describing how to install it.

Good Morning: I have an older Kenmore Dryer with the serial # of : 77982600 and the belt broke. I can get the new belt but am wondering how it goes on. Do I have to remove the felt belt on the backside?...

dont mess with the felt on the drum... pop the top of the dryer. 2 clips hold it down.. use a screw driver to pop it. then take out screws on the front and bottom to remove the front part of dryer with the door . now put the belt around the drum put front on. then comes the fun part feeding the belt through pully tensioner good luck remove back to get to belt pully /tensioner

The drum won't spin.

It sounds like the belt tensioner is bad. To look and see it the front panel must be removed for inspection. The belt wraps completely around the dryers drum with the belt running through a belt tensioner at the botton. The bearing and roller assembly should be checked thoroughly to see if its worn bad

Zanussi tumble dryer. no.TC7114W

loop the belt around the drum.
slide the belt down the drum directly over the motor pulley
loop the belt around the motor pulley
pull the tensioner pulley hard to the end of its travel against its spring
wrap the belt around the tensioner pulley
release the tensioner so the spring pulls it against the belt
rotate the drum by hand to ensure the belt is aligned and does not pull offf the pulleys
reassemble case
dry clothes
its easier than it looks seeing a broken belt in the bottom of the case.

Change a belt?

Replacing the belt is not that hard.
  1. You have to take the back of the dryer off.
  2. Then lift the tension arm on the motor releasing the pressure on the belt.
  3. Inspect the tension pulley, checking the bearings on the pulley.
  4. Wrap the new belt around the drum, and wrap it around the tension pulley, lifting the tension pulley to adjust the belt.
  5. Reinstall the back of the dryer.

BELT WON'T TURN THE DRUM

there is a tensioner pulley as well as the drum and motor
It hooks into a slot, usually on the floor of the case, and has a spring that pulls it against the belt to tension the belt.
Broken belts have been known to knock the tensioner out of place, it should be sitting on the floor of the case as should its spring.
There is usually ony one slot for it to sit in, self evident if you know to look for it
loop the belt around the drum.
slide the belt down the drum directly over the motor pulley
loop the belt around the motor pulley
pull the tensioner pulley hard to the end of its travel against its spring
wrap the belt around the tensioner pulley
release the tensioner so the spring pulls it against the belt
rotate the drum by hand to ensure the belt is aligned and does not pull offf the pulleys
reassemble case
dry clothes
its easier than it looks seeing a broken belt in the bottom of the case.
fd5c779.jpg tensioner may be on the bottom run pushing up, or on the top run pulling down

I press the start button and hear an electric humming noise and the drum does not turn.

unscrew the rear panel of the dryer,
You will most likeley find the rubber drive belt broken and wrapped around the drum or motor.
if so
Take your make and model details to your local parts dealer and pick up a new belt, for a few $
like a fan belt it installs snaked around the drum, motor, and backwards around a tensioner
